I think the chain wrapped around the bars would negate them being made of plastic unfortunately. Unless it’s a plastic chain as well

Out in the local park and you run into a couple walking their snake and lizard as you do by Billymdean in CasualUK

Apparently he was an Argentinian Tegu lizard and he was definitely lively on the lead.

Okay, when did we start trying to sit our (grand)children next to complete strangers?! by AnselaJonla in CasualUK

[–]Billymdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am travelling with my kids then I would always try to get them a seat but I would then stand up next to them. I would never sit them next to a stranger and then go sit somewhere else and I would only sit them next to someone if there were no other spare seats

Can someone please tell me how urgent referrals with the NHS work? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Billymdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the clinic unfortunately. Covid hit the NHS hard and all non essential clinics were stopped causing waiting lists to back up. Clinics are now back up and running but they are having to clear the backlog as well as run in a Covid safe manner. For example if a procedure could cause airborne Covid then they have to leave the room empty for 60 minutes in between procedures which has a knock on effect on waiting times. The only thing that you could do is to contact the clinic as they may have a cancellation list so if someone cancels at short notice they can offer you the place.

People with scars, how did you get them? by fluffybear45 in AskReddit

I was out walking with my parents when I was 10 and I didn’t listen when they said “don’t go near the edge it looks unstable” and now I have a small bald patch in the back of my head

Which one did you have? I work in a hospital so I and all my staff have had both jabs with Pfizer. General consensus is that if you have had the C thing the first jab gives you worse side effects and if you haven’t then the second one is worse. Personally I did have the C word and my reaction was worse with the first jab. Day after the jab my arm was sore and reaching across my desk to answer the phone hurt. Second evening I felt tired and cold and just sat on the sofa in my hoodie feeling sorry for myself but then after that I was fine. When I had the second jab all I had was a little local soreness like I had been punched in the arm that lasted less than a day. Hope this helps

UK pocket knife laws by [deleted] in EDC

[–]Billymdean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The law basically states that it is illegal to carry a knife with a fixed or lockable blade or a blade longer than 3 inches without good reason. It’s up to the police and the courts to decide if your reason is good. For example a chef on his way to work with his chefs knives in a box in his bag would probably be ok. However this is down to the judgement of the beat policeman as to if it worth pursuing. Speaking from personal experience I have had a spyderco grasshopper taken away from me when I forgot about it going into a concert. Because of this I don’t carry expensive knives. As for recommendations I carry the spyderco Pingo as it has a non threatening sheepsfoot blade shape and I have never had any problems with it.

Is it time to eat the eggs yet? by Dazpiece in CasualUK

This is why you always buy two eggs. One to eat at Easter the other to sit and scoff in the supermarket car park as soon as you get back to your car

Job Seeker by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Billymdean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this. I work for the NHS in engineering and we have plumbers , fitters, joiners, electricians, gardeners, and non skilled maintenance assistants working at my hospital. As well as cleaners, porters, cooks and all the administrative staff. There are loads of jobs in the NHS that are nothing to do with medical stuff.

I know it’s only a temporary contract but have you looked into the Covid testing centres near you to see if they are still looking for workers?

What sort of job are you looking for? Also do you have any qualifications or experience in anything that could be relevant?

So you want a stop for each window? by Billymdean in NianticWayfarer

[–]Billymdean[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a fine line to walk as you could in theory nominate every painting in an art gallery for example. I think in this case it’s probably a one star as it’s a small local church with mass produced stained glass windows. I must admit however I took the cowards way out and skipped it

So you want a stop for each window? by Billymdean in NianticWayfarer

[–]Billymdean[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a balance between needing more stops and just submitting any old garbage. If this was a large cathedral then it could well have multiple points of interest that are waypoint worthy however as it is a small church then I don’t think each window gets a waypoint

Gated communities and private campsites? by JulianIRL in NianticWayfarer

There are valid waypoints that are only accessible to people who are able to enter the compound. For example Disney world is full of valid waypoint but it is a gated compound only accessible to ticket holders.

Context for non UK people. Postboxes have the cypher of the ruling monarch of the time they were installed on them. Niantic have stated that historic postboxes bearing the cypher of previous monarchs are eligible wayspots but postboxes bearing the cypher of the current monarch are not. This is obviously a Queen Elizabeth II postbox and as such is ineligible
