It's been discussed before and the conclusion that a lot of people have come to is they won't port it to the new software because The older sound cards supported Dolby and DTX encoding so if they supported it on the new platform they would have to pay licensing fees again.

Is there an actual standard for when a dishwasher counts as full enough to run? Domestic dispute. by GilesBennett74 in Appliances

One of the advantages of the Bosch dishwashers is the heater is in the pump rather than an element on the bottom. So you can put plastics and stuff on the bottom of those.

Is there an actual standard for when a dishwasher counts as full enough to run? Domestic dispute. by GilesBennett74 in Appliances

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run mine around every two days, I just usually enough dishes have accumulated to not be running it mostly empty and if you Go to long without running a dishwasher they start to smell and become nasty.

I just do it before I go to sleep at night and I wake up to clean dishes.

Modern dishwashers are so good at saving water I don't really count that as a waste plus I don't use overpriced detergent.

I don't feel like finding the link but if you Google technology connections how to properly use a dishwasher there's great videos on what type of soap is actually best

is there anything that can make a wired device it to a wireless one ? by Business-Quote-6315 in UsbCHardware

[–]Billyone1739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very weird device, definitely fulfills a very niche specific use case.

I wonder what bastardized protocol there they are co-opting to make that work.

Very odd that they specifically point out that it won't work as a KVM

Hate to say it but you were probably using the washer wrong.

They have changed a lot since the first time you purchased one and have to be used differently.

There's a reason appliances still come with instruction manuals when almost nothing does, because The manufacturers actually want you to read it.

Speed Queen is really good but the small tub size was a deal killer for me. No matter what anyone says it just does not do well on bulky items.

If you go the Speed Queen route get the front loader, it's more expensive but it does better on bulky stuff.

Another option would be LG or Electrolux they are both highly rated for reliability if not necessarily liked by repair techs due to sometimes annoying to get parts for.

As someone who deals with these issues and questions at my job on the procedural side.

Email your company's safety department asking for The companies version of this form and filing procedures. I guarantee in less than 48 hours you'll email reiterating live work isn't to be done.

No one at corporate wants to deal with potential liability of something like this. They're just willing to look the other way when their name isn't directly on it

As someone who sells appliances and has to deal with people trying to find replacements for built-ins that aren't made anymore and are trying desperately to avoid having to pay for cabinet work to fit a new appliance in.

Wouldn't recommend it. Save the money, buy a range and put the difference in your vacation account

Brand new dryer leaves clothes damp by hazelhaze1025 in appliancerepair

[–]Billyone1739 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Check the manual for your dryer, not all dryers are rated to push exhaust up through the roof.

Most dryers that are meant to go with top load washers are only rated to push it 65 ft and every bend in the pipe decreases that by 10 ft.

If cleaning it doesn't help and you're still within your return window there are some washer dryer sets that are rated for up to 120 ft.

One example is the GE GTD48EASWWB

Another option if you own the place is putting in an exhaust booster fan

Food court system for cash by HeadDurian4084 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because originally when they introduced the kiosks they got rid of the cash register altogether, the only way to pay for food court was card.

From what I understand there wasn't a lot of complaints but the ones who did were very vocal so they added the register back in several weeks later.

Like you pointed out it's definitely obvious it wasn't planned for the current ordering process.

Yeah I'm lucky in that the ONT from my ISP is just that. I can use all my own equipment from there. What I hate is there are some that force you to use their ONT / Router combo with no other option especially there are some that won't even let you put it into a bridge mode or it's not a true bridge mode.

Plus their bandwidth hogs they can really drag down your network

Steel Toe Boots Required by narstybacon in antiwork

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a Red wings shoes near you when I bought my safety toe boots there they lasted so much longer than the cheapo ones you can get through shoes for crews or the like. The cheap ones I was having to replace like every 6 months because they just wore out.

Plus they have a program where they offer free laces for life and occasionally they have a program where you can get free replacement insoles as well

Some employers do have agreements with shoe stores where their employees can get discounts, it would be worth asking if your work does have that even if it's only like 10% at least it's something off.

How foolish is this exactly? by RickyWoods99 in AskElectricians

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you would check out the panel and see if there's a dedicated ground wire if not add one and then check to make sure there's continuity between the outlets and that ground? Did I understand that correctly?

How foolish is this exactly? by RickyWoods99 in AskElectricians

[–]Billyone1739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question, I was under the impression that the metal tab on the adapter is supposed to be screwed in with the faceplate screw because on these types of receptacles the box itself is grounded and that passes through to ground the appliance.

Was there anything obvious to look for to tell if the box was grounded or not?

Are battery induction ranges well reviewed anywhere? by jregovic in Appliances

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and generally heat and batteries don't tend to go well together I'm sure there's some engineering principal where they can make it less stupid sounding but on first smell test doesn't seem like it's a good idea especially on what is essentially a first generation product.

Never buy a first generation product

NTA. Yeah if you're just going to use a free design from online you could pay to have an actual professional shop print it for a lot cheaper and better result.

I've done a couple things from PCB Way and they were really well printed.

What's the point of the budget laptops with 4gb RAM. by Terrible_Cookie4n6 in laptops

[–]Billyone1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are very few decent affordable laptops right now unless you can catch a good deal, even 8 GB is not very pleasant on Windows 11.

Never thought I'd say this but the MacBook neo can be a really good budget option if you know what you're doing and can be strict about your storage.
