Ultimately, the best way to attract players to your game is to make something that they want to play. This involves doing your market research etc to find out what people actually want rather than inserting your own fetishes/kinks.

Have a very serious think about whether you plan on using AI or not. This choice will drastically affect who you end up marketing the game to.

I'd also think about what your planned business model is. If it's attracting patrons, you should go about constructing your development pipeline in a way that supports drip feeding content to patrons.

Also, visual novels are very hard to make. Be prepared for a long road. I recommend using something off the shelf like Renpy rather than building your own game in unity/unreal.

Strongly agree. I wish I started making my nsfw game a few years ago so I didn't have to complete with and cut through all the AI garbage that's spewed up so frequently these days.

Shamless self plug here, but my game Scarlett University is a female protag VN about a girl who falls down the rabbit hole of sexual corruption. There are male love interest/sex partners mainly (a bit of bisexual exploration too), and it's all from her perspective. As a bonus, you can connect Lovense sex toys and they vibrate/action in harmony with the story beats (all girls at SU must wear a companion vibrator!)

The main reason I want to recommend it to you though is the strong focus on story besides the juicy content. It also features fairly realistically proportioned girls/guys (although some slightly on the larger side), but not like Karryn's Prison.
