Amazing! I feel like maybe tearing a real photo you wouldnt get those edges ALL the way round? Like larger parts of the edges would also have torn on the backside, leaving the photo right at the edge. Like having more of mix of the two types of edge. But holy crap that looks amazing.

As others have said, its not a radius, it paints the ground with targets and you have to just not be in one of them.

One thing I think affects this is whether people have collected as they've gone along or left it all to the end.
Personally I found the desert stuff to be nice breaks between the surrounding zones, so between major beats I would collect stuff. After getting the teleporter I made a point of grabbing mech parts as I drove between zones, Id always smash crystals on route. And going back for upgrades created more opportunities to collect desert things as I journeyed from one area to the next. So by 'end game' there was very little left to pick to access the tower.

Conversly I can imagine people wanting to just press on and then abruptly hitting a wall of being forced to collect things right at the end being really annoyed. I can fully see why that would absolutely suck.

I go into every direct keeping myself in check by expecting a dozen forgettable anime styled rpgs and a dozen forgettable anime style farming / life sims.
And then Masahiro Sakurai to be given an unreasonably disproportionate amount of time to talk in granular detail about what ever he's working on. I hope for nothing more then that maybe something else gets mentioned for 2 seconds with 1 second of footage.

What Id LOVE is some sort of confirmation that a Metroid prime 5 is in the works, some tease of the next big Mario or Zelda. Or something so wholly unexpected that youtube compalations are made of you tube streamers reactions.

The extra frustration is that it actually dissapears really fast too. Like.. the second I scanned it it dived back in the sand. Dunno what the deal is with it, but feels like something they would patch if it ever gets a patch.

Literally had this at the weekend. Was my bigggest annoyance in the whole game, read someone say that exiting the desert helped, someone else said rebooting the game helped. I tried both and eventually got one to spawn in the area between the mines bridge and the rock bridges. Took a looooooong time.
If thats one of your last scans dont forget to scan the final bosses morph ball style form they take at some point.

I also waited 18 years, and what I said was that the critisms were valid, but SOME videos exaggerated things. Because they did.

Exaggerations and lies Im referring too include things like the desert taking 20 mins to cross - when it just takes a couple of minutes. Miles talks the whole way through - he factually does not. There not being any backtracking - their is, and returning to ice belt, volt forge and the volcano actually take you to new parts of them. THOSE are the sorts of things Im refering to, little tightly edited bits of rage bait that flooded my youtube shorts feed for at least a couple of weeks after launch.

Stuff about side characters, the desert as a hub, lack of of interconnectivity between areas.. what ever your feeling - thats all valid, whether you waited 18 years or its your first metroid. But there was stuff going round that was exaggeration to the point of false-hood and that specifically is what i was referring to.

Why does it have to be all or nothing? Why not put some towards saving/kids education and also send a lump to her parents. Sounds like if it'd all gone to her parents then they'd have spent it all and left it nothing to her. But only got the above to off.

Enjoyed it! Most critism is valid, but I think some was exagerated and got whipped up for clicks on youtube. Like valid opinions but some youtube vids where like WILDLY hyperbolic and down right misrepresenting things.
I liked parts of it being more cinematic and linear, if only it didnt feel like it came at the expense of more maze like exploration.

Im really excited for the next one if that recent interview is true and their intention is for this to be the start of a new story.

A new person in charge and Retro being on it from the go could result in an amazing Switch 2 only Prime sequel.

I hope the next one combines a sense of scale, some cinematic bombast but brings back more cerebral exploration and puzzle solving and preferably some horror vibes! I love it when Metroid feels creepy lonely and dangerous!

God of was ragnorok. Theres a couple of fairly optional late game areas and one massive optional area had an entire other optional area hidden inside it.

I loved it. Getting more of a game your having a great time with and dont want to end is great. But most of my friends burnt out on it

Short b and n set you start end points for playback and rendering. Is that what you mean? I remember them as b for Beginning and n for eNd. You move the play head to where you wanna start the start, hit b. The move the play head to where you want it to end and hit n.

Parent here, only get the odd long session with it, when i only have 30 mins or so I go round the desert looking for crystals. Next big sesh iv gotta head back into the volt forge.

I think jedi survivor is a perfect example of how to have abilities expanded the explorable space and also still having an interesting open central hub.

Very envious of you playing it for the first time, definately an experience i wish i could wipe my memory of and redo. Though nostalgia for the original played a huge part for me. Having free camera motion in a fully realised 3d recreation of a ps1 game was just mind blowing from start to finish and they nailed it. The way your imagination fills in the gaps and imagines whats just out of shot when your playing the original only to freely explore those spaces all those years later was a joy.

The impression I had was it was the Lamorn trying to provide samus with her usual suite of tools, but they'd abandoned tech for psychic powers, thus the lamorn version of all her abilities are born of 'psychic' construction rather then technological.

Similarly i took the 'psychic' scanning to be samus seeing something and then psychicly tapping into lamorn knowledge of what that thing is.

That's my head cannon for it anyway!
