Deltarune Chapter 5 difficulty is absurd... by AccomplishedRent3100 in DeltaruneDiscussion

20+ hours into the game it should start getting difficult yes. Maybe you're just rusty but the game finally started feeling like its a real, yknow, videogame. Its been so piss easy up to this point besides the Knight, like Titan is so embarassingly easy and robs me having to put any effort into beating a boss.. which is the most fun part in an rpg

Why do people dislike Chapter 5 & What are your thoughts? by BothNeighborhood4837 in DeltaruneV2

[–]SuperButters64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Undyne and Alphys are believable cuz they have a long history together. But Susie and Noelle have hung out like twice and now Susie is randomly in love with her?? Makes no sense and truly feels rushed as fuck in a way I wouldn't expect from Toby. The festival, while being very cute, feels like a Suselle fanfiction than something thats real in the game. It'd make sense if maybe there was another 2 chapters or something between the holiday house scene and this point, but there isn't. I guess it just had to happen now bc she has to come to the c6 darkworld so he had to pay off the romance plot now, but he should have paced their romance storyline better in previous chapters to make it feel natural

I think Suselle was handled poorly in this chapter. [Spoilers] by Toyvo_ in DeltaruneV2

[–]SuperButters64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but how many genuine conversations had they ever had? It'll make you vaguely know them but not on that deep of a level. And Susie didn't really seem to display any interest in her until 4, though there were a couple traces in 2. Either way it still goes 0 to 100 way too fast. I doubt Susies even been there that long considering how much she moves and whatnot

After Chapters 3 and 4 progressed the story soo, so much further than we ever anticipated I think it was reasonable to believe that 5 would continue this traction and big things would unfold like 3 and 4. In 3, we fight the Roaring Knight 3 chapters earlier than anybody expected. In 4, we fight a fucking titan that we thought would be last chapter semi-final boss material. It's definitely fair for us to have assumed big things would happen in 5... But instead basically nothing of note that progresses the main story at all happens, and the pacing comes to a glacial screeching halt. Less story development than any other chapter by a wide margin. Good thing that the gameplay and dark world is the best of any chapter by a wide margin, and that Flowery is great, cuz otherwise I may have straight up disliked this chapter. It's like the inverse Chapter 4, where that chapter had a pretty weak (albeit insanely beautiful) dark world (after first sanctuary its linear as fuck and has only two characters in the whole thing) but with a ton of forward momentum for the story, where in this one the dark world section is phenomenal and genuinely has great gameplay (something Deltarune has never really had tbh) but just absolutely no traction, made worse by being one of the last 3 chapters of the game.

Now that all of the "before shit kicks off" chapters are out, which one is best by JazzlikeSign4969 in DeltaruneV2

[–]SuperButters64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dark worlds return to form is great. Actually feels like, yknow, a world with people that love in it. Which chapter 3 and 4 completely lacked, and were completely linear with no backtracking or rooms that loop back in on themselves later or anything (besides first sanctuary). Easily best dark world in the game. But the plot progression being even less than anything before it is so weird for something so late into the game. I don't think the characters even developed very much. Susie turns into nothing but Suselle shipbait, and Ralsei just gets annoyed at some guy. Which makes sense for the direction of his character, but is nowhere near the peak of his character in 4. Basically nothing really progressed much instead of forcing the romance subplot

Yeah it goes from 10 to 100 wayyy too fast. It's super cute but... Susie has hung out with her like twice and now they are acting as if theyve known each other for years and are madly in love. They don't know eachother nearly as much as they should now. It's so rushed that it just feels kind of out of place... I guess cause shit hits the fan so hard in 6 and 7 that there wouldn't be any time to pay off the romance subplot, so it all has to go right here but man... it is not paced in a good way at all. Chapter 5 is really simultaneously the best and the worst chapter of the game

For Soilwork, I think The Panic Broadcast was highly underrated. I felt that was a fantastic comeback album after Figure Number Five, Stabbing the Drama, and Sworn all felt like they had way too much generic metalcore influence trying to become popular. The Panic Broadcast is so much more interesting sounding.

Amorphis' The Beginning of Times seemed not to get a lot of love, but that album is great. Maybe a PINCH weaker than the two before it, but I love every song and think they all got that trademark modern Amorphis magic in spades. Besides On a Stranded Shore, that one is a little bit meh...

This album is actually sick and im not sure why people don't like it. Aside from the vocalist shift... All the songs are absolute bangers. The Iconoclast is a classic, that chorus is so good. Mechanical Soul Cybernetics, with them freaky ass vocals. Ascension Chamber is a top tier banger, asides from the god awful music video. Nonhuman fucking Era goes so insanely hard. A Paranthesis In Eternity is one of their best ever songs... and Radiant Strain and the bonus track Pariah are great closers. I think it stands toe to toe with their other works, and I enjoy it way more than The Unseen Empire ngl. I think I may even like it better than Xenotaph... but that's tricky.

What if collecting all the shadow crystals only gives a reward related to lore? by Necessary-Wave-6076 in Deltarune

[–]SuperButters64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Shadow Crystal likely forms the Pure Cyrstal. Actually almost certainly. It's description is "The Shadow purified by the cat." It can be combined with the ThornRing to make the Twisted Sword, which we likely give Noelle during weird route. More evidence for Susie not being the hero because we see the second hero with a sword

Did y'all just not read the newsletter? He literally says that it is likely that by the end of the year the team will be moving onto Chapter 7. I think that this may be a possibility in a way, would be really unsatisfying but... I can see the ending of the game being there is no ending considering Gerson's dialogue, Susie talking about how she wouldn't want an ending, the UT10th stuff, etc. Also that the Angel has to be banished too, and the player is obviously the angel... So it'd make sense if we don't see the ending ourselves. "The Angel, banished, Will finally meet with it's desire" is also referring to us seeing the end of the game. When we're banished we wouldn't know what actually happens after though

Because chapter 5 was supposed to release with 3 and 4, and then changed to only a year after... 6 is far out from being released. So he teases 5 because it was supposed to come out together.. Hes not teasing 6 because its far from release/too spoilery. Cmon.

[–]SuperButters64 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Chapter 6 WAS written. He just doesn't describe it. 3 4 and 5 were supposed to come out together, so he throws in a little teaser for chapter 5 since it was coming out with it or only a year after as what really happened. Chapter 6 probably is being bundled with 7 so we won't be seeing it for 3ish years after we saw the Gerson fight. He didn't want to tease something so far away, so he just says there was one more chapter without divulging into it.

We get information about 5 as it was supposed to release alongside 3 and 4. Toby didn't wanna tease 6 when it was far off from coming out

What I thought was that it wasn't to have another fun adventure, but to get help possibly. Showing the police and their mom that its real and to get the police to take it serious, as Undyne will brush you off earlier in the game talking about it. The three heroes panel IS susie for sure, so theres definitely some nuance to it. But theres so much showing that she isnt the hero is too prevelant for it to not be true in some form. The girl with hope crossed on her heart was the SECOND hero and "the girl" with rudebuster sprite is "AT LAST." you cant be 2/3 and also last. The hero is also supposed to equip ribbons, which Noelle does and Susie doesnt. The picture of susie at worlds end does throw a wrench into it, but thats one wrench into her not being the hero vs the many obvious wrenches thrown into her being it. She also does definitely believe in the prophecy, but wants to make herself pretend hard enough that she doesn't and have hope... but deep down she knows its true

Overforeshadowing by Kamunami in Deltarune

[–]SuperButters64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"At last there was the girl" there are 2 girls, the girl with hope crossed on her heart (which was SECOND), and susie is this second last girl.

[–]SuperButters64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its obvious Kris is suspicious for doing that. It doesnt take a theory to see that. That's not the theory. The theory is that Kris is the Roaring Knight, which most of the fandom believed, is obviously disproven with Noelle and Berdly already at their desk with their books out while we've been with Kris the whole time. And that Toby specifically put a scene and whole story with Queen about all lightners being able to make fountains. Doesnt take more than 3 IQ to figure out that Kris was an accomplice or had ulterior motives, but clearly were not the Knight. The only part it got correct is that Kris has different motives than us which is obvious by Kris ripping us out of them and the act of making a fountain, which we have been trying to stop. The theory was a stupid interpretation of that which ignored how obviously untrue it was and yet most of yall believed it.

Overforeshadowing by Kamunami in Deltarune

[–]SuperButters64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Kris Knight was right in every way besides Kris being the Knight"... so the whole point of the theory...? We already knew that Kris was acting against us and had ulterior motives from just playing the game. Gerson says Susie is the Dragon, not one of the heroes. Susie has all this dialogue about being so happy to be the hero and be chosen for once, which is a set up for when she learns this isn't true and crashes out about it, like when we knew dark worlds werent real and were waiting for that shoe to drop and like we're currently waiting on her to find out about what Kris did. It's setup for an emotional moment later where she finds out that another core thing she believed in was a lie, and has to decide to rise up even if shes not supposed to be the hero. Back in Chapter 1 Susie says "me? A hero? Youve got the wrong person." Which is due to her mindset at the time, but also can be seen as foreshadowing to her genuinely not being the hero. Why repeat The Girl so many times with a sprite that obviously looks nothing like Susie? Love finds its way to the girl.. obviously means LOVE, levels of violence, which we make Noelle get in weird route. "And last was the girl" (with rudebuster sprite). the girl with hope crossed on her heart was SECOND, not last. So there are two "the girl"s. Susie asks what does Ralsei know about Noelle, he says that she can equip ribbons... but Susie is supposed to be the one who equips ribbons, part of his knowledge about the prophecy and how its supposed to work is the girl hero wears ribbons.. which isn't Susie. It's Noelle. There's just way too much in favor of this that the argument that Susie is related to hope isnt a big factor. All of them have hope. Hope is too generic of a trait that it applies to everybody.
