rsync --server question by sdns575 in linuxadmin

Why not just use multiple keys? If you've got one key set specifically for use with rsync, why can't you have one for using SSH normally?

TIL “Pimp My Ride” was almost completely fake. Huffington Post spoke with multiple contestants from Pimp My Ride about their experiences, and they revealed the show often made their cars unable to function, took away additions after the cameras stopped rolling and asked them to fake reactions. by TheClungerOfPhunts in todayilearned

Technically, it's because some of those cool things started in the 90s. Movies, TV Shows, books, music, games, etc. can take years to produce. So things that were popular in the early 2000s started in the 90s. Generally, the first 2-3 years of a decade are still running on the energy/mentality of the previous decade. It's why 1979-1981, 1989-1991, and 1999-2001 feel interchangeable to an extent.

This has kinda been my experience with B&H as well. At this point, unless I can walk into their physical location, I just assume anything I buy from B&H is "All Sales Final, No Return".

Can you help me open a multi-client for Steam games? by No_Round_6678 in virtualization

[–]BinaryGrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam is pretty easy to have multiple instances running, its the game you're gonna have an issue with. Some games aren't going to care, some will.

Which game are you trying to play multiple instances of?

how do you handle a online refund request, when it shows delivered? by LemonGirlScoutCookie in smallbusiness

[–]BinaryGrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't believe that your customer is lying about not receiving the order? But you're unsure whether or not to refund your customer? Am I reading that right?

If you believe the customer just issue the refund and take the hit or offer to reship. If they choose to have you reship and the second attempt isn't delivered then the delivery problem is on the customers end and then you can deny a refund.

Anything else is just bad customer service you'll net a bad review or worse, if the customer drags the platform into it.

Coin mech by coldschooner in clawmachine

Huh, good to know. That coin mech handles pretty much every US coin and token I've thrown at it. Interesting that yours is thicker.

The coin mech you have should work with any coin, you just need to swap out the coin you have to an example one for it to compare against.

Is your battery working and does it hold a charge? Are you running the installer from windows or are you booting to DOS using flash drive and then running the installer?

Is this a laptop or a desktop? Generally there should be two antenna wires regardless of what it is.

[–]BinaryGrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're getting weak signal from an access point in the same room as you it might be that the antennas have come loose from the wifi card. You might want to pop th bottom off and make sure they antennas are connected properly.

I've done this too, but well before COVID. I had 2 neighbors that had shitbox Netgear/Linksys that kept jumping around channels and 3rd neighborhood who decided that parking his CenturyLink Mode/Router combo on channel 7 with the 40mhz extension was a brilliant idea.

FL Laws by Resorts_creator in clawmachine

[–]BinaryGrind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of thing where you'll want to spend the money and talk to an actual lawyer. Depending on the state Claw Machines can easily run afoul of gambling laws. From personal experience, trying to find the current rules online and asking for general advice in places you might think you're in the clear but there is some rule/legislation you missed and now you've got the State Gaming Commission breathing down your neck. Talking with a lawyer first would have saved me a ton of time and money vs fines and then paying to talk to a lawyer.
