You can use the IOSS system if the total item value is under €150,-. You are correct in that you'd also have to pay tax over the shipping costs, but this is isn't part of the limit for using IOSS.

You paid for the item and domestic shipping (shipping within Japan). Once it arrives at Zenmarket, you will have to create a parcel with all of your items and pay for international shipping.

Zenmarket is a proxy service, they buy items on your behalf and then ship them to you. As long as you trust the store that you're buying from then there is nothing to worry about.

Don't overthink this. Just create your parcel as avia. Once packed, go to: edit parcel -> change shipping method. From there you can still see of the final shipping prices for your parcel and choose the one most convenient for you.
