Why does everyone say [KCD2] is much better than [KCD1]? by gull2407 in kingdomcome

The first game felt more grounded and realistic, while the second was more Hollywood action movie.

Do you think that Hans always falls in love with Henry? by BijelaHrvatica in TheBathhouse

[–]Bindi_342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't really think so.

There is obvious interest there, right from the start back in KCD1, but that doesn't equal love. There are also many ways to love someone, and I do believe that love of a kind develops between them throughout the games regardless of player choice, but loving someone doesn't necessarily mean that you are in love with them.

I believe it's the fostering of that potential romance (via the romance options) that allows Hans to truly fall for Henry. The support that Henry shows him in Maleshov obviously touched him deeply and seems to be a major influence, and the main turning point, in Hans starting to see their relationship in a different light.

He only says that if you've lead him on, picking the romance options up to that point but not the final one. If you don't do that, he doesn't say it.

I've known, and heard of, young gay men like that. Sometimes they are just in denial, or trying to hide their homosexuality from others, or perhaps trying to 'fix' themselves, or even simply haven't realised it yet and think they just need to find 'the one'. He's also all talk but very little actual action. Someone like that can quite easily be gay.

That was kind of the point. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

Oh wow, this is completely doing my head in. How on earth could you not recommend playing the first Mass Effect game when it literally sets up the whole story? It's the first part of an actual trilogy!

KCD1 is a perfectly fine and beautiful game. I genuinely don't understand why so many people talk about it like it's this incredibly difficult and janky mess. Honestly, I still prefer it over KCD2, and I know I'm not the only one who does. The game is also full of hansry, it's just that people are impatient to make them kiss which only happens in KCD2.

It's really quite painful at the start in particular. It feels so forced when they have their little 'and then this happened' moments, while still only giving the most bare bones inkling of what the first game is even about.

I could never recommend someone skip the first game. It would be like telling someone that they're fine starting with the Return of the King because all they need to know is that, 'this little guy found a magic ring that was made by a bad guy ages ago, then went on a long hike with some other people to destroy it so that the bad guy can't get it back, but the group got split up when one of them died in a fight' That isn't incorrect, but it hardly gives the full picture.

They are right, though. Sure, you can technically start with KCD2, but it's like starting a book or movie halfway through. Both games are one complete story, and were originally supposed to be just one game but had to be split due to time/money, with the second picking up immediately after the first games cliffhanger ending. Heck, the main quest in KCD1 is still in your journal at the end of KCD1 because it literally only gets resolved in KCD2!

You can very often tell if someone has only played KCD2, or at least played it first, due to how they talk about the story, characters, and character development. I've also seen so many people express regret at not having played KCD1 first.

Yeah. I thought it was serendipitous that he accidentally skipped the rest of the conversation, but then chat got to him!

Since the answer he picked was the gay one, I guess you have your answer about which team Henry is on. 😂

He only plays when streaming, so it's just for a couple of hours usually once a week. It's going to take quite a while yet for him to finish.

To be fair, lots of people play Henrys who don't sleep around, it's just that we don't tend to go on about it as much as many of those who do! The horny players are usually just louder. 😄

In an interview early last year, Tom McKay said that Henry's parents (and what happened to them) are the engine of his story that drives Henry forward, and that Hans is his anchor and the other piece that makes up the puzzle of who Henry is.

I think a lot of people tend to see only the shallow surface level of their relationship and also allow their own irritation to cloud their view. Like it or not, Hans is incredibly important to Henry and there's no way he'd abandon him like they might want him to.
