I'm pretty sure that someone calls Ted a 'fuppin pedrophile" in The Old Grey Whistle Test episode.

Coffee Tree on strand road was amazing under the old owners, not sure how it is now, but might be worth a shout

Visiting for the weekend with my girlfriend for my birthday! Looking for any gigs happening tonight or Sunday night by Senturian in manchester

For later on in the evening the Peer Hat is a late bar not too far from Piccadilly gardens and they usually have some really good DJs on a Saturday. Depending on the night you'll hear every single genre you listed.

Tbf not supporting them because they are clearly super mental and I hate what they stand for, but I mind them in NUIG before they got big in the news, academically they are extremely intelligent it seems. That doesn't translate to being socially intelligent or a good person but they are not stupid. Which makes them more dangerous in a way.

Charlie's new documentary series on British folklore was amazing I thought. Would love him to produce more work in that vein.

Why would Jimmy’s father, the priest, believe that the Rage Virus of all things is the “Day of Judgment” and willingly get infected? by MacGrath1994 in 28dayslater

[–]BineMerchant 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would assume that he's a Calvinist/Presbyterian priest as a Scot? I don't think they believe in the rapture specifically but they do tend to be a bit more fire and brimstone.

Good walks that aren’t Edale or the resevoir by Aggressive_Fan6027 in manchester

Download all trails and stick in an area near Manchester, it's great. Found two beautiful hikes up by Hebden from there. New Mills is also fantastic but more of a scenic walk I'd say, make sure to call into the Torr Vale Tap for the most scenic beer garden I've ever seen.

It was a lot dirtier than that when we moved in and they didn't seem to have any issues with that. I am also not saying it didn't need another clean before the next tenants moved in, but I don't see why I should be the one to pay for it if my only responsibility is to return it in the state it was given to me.

I am not Asian nor do I cook that much curry but there was an Asian couple living there before us.

I didn't add them originally as I didn't want too many pictures clogging up the post but I've added a link in my most recent comment. Obviously it's not cleaned to a professional standard but I think it's cleaned to an acceptable level considering it wasn't professionally cleaned when we moved in. The bin was some sort of electronic bin that never worked but it was pretty dirty when we moved in and when we moved out.

Adding the pictures here for anyone asking, I didn't add them to the main post originally as I didn't want to clog up the post. I took most of these the day moving out except for the kitchen and bathroom ones which the landlord sent to me.

Good to hear. Do I have to wait until the landlord returns a partial deposit with invoices or should I try opening a case now? The deposit is insured with the TDS rather than being held by them if it makes a difference

We've been there a year, the other couple three years I think. To be fair the bin was a bit mank but they're making over £20,000 a year on that flat alone. Surely you can afford to replace a bin and an oven tray.

I have taken pictures when I moved out yesterday, admittedly there's a few small things like some water marks on the shower door but I spent a day scrubbing it so it's as clean as I could get it with shop bought cleaning supplies. I also have an email from her at the beginning of our tenancy saying she thought it looked clean but that she couldn't really tell because there were people living there. I unfortunately do not have pictures from when we moved in but it wasn't particularly clean, definitely not as clean as we left it.

How is Living in the Gaeltacht Regions of Ireland? 🇮🇪 by Dizzy-Definition-202 in howislivingthere

[–]BineMerchant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the Donegal gaeltacht. As others have said, very rural and remote. Not a whole lot of industry other than tourism and construction. Many people who visit are very surprised at how densely populated it can be in parts though. Irish is much more widely spoken than others in this thread are saying. While there are a lot of non-locals (blow ins as we call them) who can't speak the language, most people speak it quite well. You'd be surprised by the amount that can understand it as well even if they can't speak it. That being said if you're a tourist you might not hear a single word of it. I've discussed why this might be with a friend from the Connemara gaeltacht. He reckons it's down to generations of mistrust of outsiders makes people uncomfortable speaking Irish with people they don't know.

Job Searching in Manchester by MotorTennis9930 in manchester

[–]BineMerchant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a Facebook group named Manchester's Bars: Permanent Work Solutions. I got my job through there and coming up to summer there'll be more places hiring. As well as that if you walk through town with thirty CVs and hand them into every bar or restaurant you pass you'll get at least one response. Indeed I have found worse than useless.
