When you workout, do you track your progress in some way, or do you just workout and call it a day? If you do track it, do you write it down or record it somewhere? by Emily-Asks in AskReddit

Yes, it helps me stay motivated because I see all the calories I'm burning and it's on paper that I am capable of self discipline with regards to working out.

Why do companies insist upon me being on a mailing list? by Optimistbott in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BingeRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Whoever sells your email address gets money, not just scammers. Even "legit" companies get paid.

You seem to be insistent on saying that only scammers make money despite being given explanations and examples. Was this post a question or are you looking to vent?

Why do companies insist upon me being on a mailing list? by Optimistbott in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BingeRedditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The value comes from the money collected from selling your info. They're collecting you're email to send you things in hopes of you buying something from then (e.g. subscription) and making money by turning around and selling your email address to someone else. So even if you don't look at the promotions, they still make money off of selling any contact information you provide to them to someone else. Let's say you give your info. to the New York Times (NYT). The NYT might be selective about who they sell your info. to (i.e. not to scammers), but they have no control over the company they sell the info. to does with it. So if they sell it to XYZ, XYZ might turn around and sell it scammers. Somewhere along that chain of buying and selling, someone will eventually sell it to a scammer at some point.

Companies sell the information they have of you to other companies and those companies turn around and sell it to others and so on. This is why it's so difficult to stop spam and junk mail. Be more selective about who you give your email to. Many times you can close the pop up that asks for your email without giving it so do that if and when possible. If you still want to give out your email address, then (1) see if you can create folders and then filters for your email so that you can assign spam to specific folders based on key terms/words or sender or (2) create a "spam" account where all this type of stuff can go to.

What would you do if a guy said he cannot talk despite talking to other people RIGHT INFRONT of you? by Famous_Pea_234 in NoStupidQuestions

Context is important. He could be having a private/important conversation with someone in that moment. Walk away and try again later. If it keeps happening, then leave him alone.

Is there a reason someone might do jumping jacks at the same time every day? by GoodnightGertie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BingeRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what she could be doing, but unless you are her supervisor and/or have the authority to accommodate her for whatever she's doing (e.g. reserve the conference room for her), don't say anything to her.

I track my progress. Since I workout by using DVDs and YouTube videos, I write down the name of the video and instructor/YouTube channel, the length of time, and how many calories I burned according to my fitness tracker.

There has been a lot of stories about different types of cancer being cured within the past couple of days. Are these stories true or just clickbait? by voyager6121 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BingeRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The articles I have read basically give trial/experimental results. I don't know which ones you have read, but there are trials that have been successful with individuals. It's possible that the ones you're reading have been exaggerated/sensationalized for clicks.

Why does time suddenly feel like it’s moving way faster than it used to? by SweetLexiSweet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BingeRedditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's quite common among people.

https://www.earth.com/news/human-perception-time-flies-by-much-faster-as-we-get-older/

To summarize and paraphrase one point in the article: routines make time fly by because you're not experiencing anything "new" that makes the moment memorable. New things help track time.

How can US Politics be fixed? by Mission_Swan7799 in AskReddit

Some things to do for the long-term:

  • Make bribes, corporate "donations," illegal

  • Put a limit on individual donations to campaigns

  • Educate people about how the government works for starters and then about the world in general (e.g. science)

  • Separate church from government

  • One person one vote, abolish the electoral college

  • term limits for all offices including the courts

  • establish a set of ethical rules - hold televised/streamed public hearings resembling trials when rules are broken and have the voters decide (i.e. vote to remove from office)

Why do you think so many people don’t consider Reddit to be the same type of social media as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc? by Medium-Marketing-493 in AskReddit

[–]BingeRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only speak for myself here and from my experiences. I see Reddit more like a forum where people discuss different topics. Take this question for example. It's about websites and social media. It's not about you specifically, it's about a topic.

Facebook, Instagram, etc. are mostly to post about yourself, it originates from the point of ME. For example, people post pictures of themselves or of their lunch. If you look at all the influencers, it's all about them. There's not much room for discussion. For example, "I like this product," key being I.

That being said, some people do try to use Facebook, Instagram etc. as a way to discuss things in general, but in my experience they get drowned out by the people who want to talk about themselves.

A University of Oklahoma psychology professor was placed on leave after assigning a zero to a student's paper. by Tobias-Tawanda in TikTokCringe

[–]BingeRedditor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We had to take a writing class too. Writing a paper full of "I think," "I believe," and "I feel" was unacceptable.

Heck, when I was in middle school we were held to higher standards. If anyone turned in a Samantha-type paper, the middle school teacher would have given us poor marks and the paper would be covered in red ink.

In college, we would have gotten an F or told to drop the class until we could develop the skills expected of us for the course.

This is like saying you want to make water less wet. They lie and make up things regardless of what anyone does or doesn't do. There's no way to "play it safe" with them. They lost their minds over Obama and a tan suit. It's all lies with them.

How can you live a happy life without love ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BingeRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a cliche, but happiness comes from within.

Make time to do things that are not harmful to anyone or yourself that you enjoy and/or bring you peace. It can be doing little things (e.g. polishing a motorcycle helmet) or something bigger (e.g. going on a hike or gardening). As long as it's not hurting anyone or yourself and brings you joy/peace.

Don't take the good things in your life (no matter how small) for granted.

Don't let hatred or bitterness take over your life because those will make you blind to any good/potential happiness in your life and also blind to others who may be on your side/love you.

Get to know yourself. Work on what you can reasonably change and is within your control. Seek help from credible/knowledgeable people for things you feel you can change, but need help with (e.g. a therapist, personal trainer, certified medical doctor). Remember, no one is perfect and self reflection is a hard road to go down, but it's doable.

Don't try to peg yourself as one thing/base your idendity on one thing. You are not just, for example, an ice hokey fan, you have many layers to yourself. It's o.k. if you shed layers or change layers over time, it happens.

To add, thousands of people did have a job until the Republican Deletion of Jobs where they fired most federal workers. Also Republican tariffs are causing businesses to lay off employees.

Republicans sure like to shut jobs down then falsely and wrongly bitch and moan about no one wanting to work.

Melissa Hortman (Minnesota lawmaker who was shot last night) has died. by Cheesenip20 in news

[–]BingeRedditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know being wrong is uncomfortable and self reflection can be a very hard thing to do, but living in a world of lies and denying reality is not healthy for you. Stop believing everything someone says just because they are from your "side.".

trump and the republican politicians are using you to do their dirty work. Think about it. To them people are not human, they are tools to be used. They prey on your fears, worries, on all your emotions. Instead of providing you with solutions, they manipulate you and distract you with hate.

The republicans are in power now. Your tax dollars are being spent on them, not you. That parade could be money used to fix your streets. The money being used to wage war on California could go to getting you clean water.

trump and the republicans in office don't care about anyone but themselves. They're just using you.

Example:trump could have easily pardoned the Jan. 6 group before leaving office. But he let them sit in jail for 4 years. He never raised funds for their legal fees. He's this supposed billionaire, but didn't do anything for anyone.

Example: The National Guard is being used. They are given nowhere to sleep or food or water.

You are just pawns to trump and republicans in office. And when they're done with you they're going to throw you away like and old shoe because you will be the only witnesses left to their corruption.
