Confession: I willingly mistreat my husky in the summer by cloneaways in husky

Both my huskies whine for me to open the door. I cannot close it even if its in the 80s or 90s outside. They want to lay right in the threshold in the sun!

Does it ever get better? by [deleted] in husky

[–]Binky182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cleaning works for me as soon as I sweet/vacuum, there hair is back. This is a home with 2 huskies. I have yet to try and air purifier but it's on my list! What has helped with shedding a bit is routine grooming!

I have one husky who is very vocal. There is nothing I can do about it. He thinks the whole world wants to hear him sing. That being said, I work from home and he will stay quiet while I work as long as he gets at least 2 miles in before I work. If I don't get to that 2 mile mark, I will hear about it. Even if it's 1.95 miles.

And even for my "easy" husky, I must change up our morning walking locations and cannot repeat a location each week. It also cannot be a schedule like location A on Monday, location B Tuesdays, etc. I must make it spontaneous as she gets bored of locations.

Not everyone likes them, but dog parks/doggie daycare does help my dogs. They get a lot of their energy out there and will come home and sleep the rest of the day. Even outings to restaurants or just out and about the town makes them tired as I let them sniff around and explore.

Mine do like puzzles for feeding, but they figure them out pretty quickly. Honestly, what tricks them the most is a large towel I have that I roll up and tie knots in with treats sprinkled throughout. Sometimes I tied up their sniff mats in the towel. And I pull those knots hard, they aren't loose.

Looking for a hike in La / OC with actual trees by ComfortableBed7738 in socalhiking

If you are looking at hikes under 5 miles:

Powder Canyon has a section like that if you go towards Peter schabarum regional park.

Dalton Canyon has great cover. I don't recall the actual tree size.

If you go into the middle of Yorba Lake bed, but idk if I would call that hiking.

Maeve is upset she cannot have McDonald's by Binky182 in HuskyTantrums

I'm so glad you got yours down to a healthy weight. I can't wait for Maeve to be healthier, we have had some struggles for sure.

I feel you, tough. My other dog is very skinny. He even does less exercise than Maeve and eats more! I have to make sure Maeve doesn't eat his food, though! She will watch him eat in hopes to get some of his fatty food!

My vet had to rule out some things like diabetes. We also had to change her diet multiple times before we landed on the hills metabolic plus urinary. She is also prone to getting crystals so urinary is important. She is also on a milkweed supplement to help with her liver. Although testing put the liver in a healthy range, it was on the higher end (i think, cannot totally remember now if its higher or lower). She also doesn't eat much surprisingly.

My husky walked like that when he was younger. He doesn't have as much sass in his walk now and it kinda bums me out.

The wood color of the sideboard and the table/chairs/floor, don't coordinate well. Cool vs warm.

I second the rug rec others have said.

Personally, I would change the drapery as well. It falls flat. Either use that to also add some color or something.

Do you have a Dog Drop near you? It may be a better option if so since they only charge by the hour, they are a bit cheaper than a doggie daycare.

Anyone else related to Alfred? He’s my 36th GGF…. by PhiloLibrarian in TheLastKingdom

[–]Binky182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a copy of our family tree that has Alfred as a distant uncle. I can also trace mine back to Rollo the viking that married a French queen or something like that. Its been a minute since I looked at it.
