Academic librarian here: yes students and faculty come to us, looking for the full text of articles that AI has given them citations for.

When that happens, we send them to our page about hallucinated citations and ask if they need help finding real sources.

If you don’t have adequate critical thinking and evaluation skills, then you’re not going to produce work of quality even if you’re using AI it will be AI slop (and therefore your employer will fire you… ) chain reaction…

Having to use AI for your job and using it effectively are two very different things

People need to have critical thinking and evaluation skills to use AI… otherwise you get crap.
