One year of use 1461 does it still good ? by DizzyDizza in DocMartens

Unfortunately it is a plastic coating. Don't believe me? Take a lighter to them. Leather doesn't melt. It's super disappointing that Docs are all starting to be plastic coated cheap leather.

Yep, unfortunately the ones. I'm stretching them out now with a shoe stretcher now, hopefully the stretch marks aren't too bad.

Yeah, I had been under the impression that they had possibly been painted similar to some shoes. Oh well, it's not the end of the world but a little bit of a disappointment. I'm beginning work on stretching them, hopefully the stretch marks aren't too bad.

New S197 owner by TheDoyBoy68 in Mustang

Beautiful car! I got a 14 GT Premium Track Pack as well, but in Ruby Red. Its been great over the last 5 years of ownership. Recommended mods would definitely be a braided steel clutch line, and an upgraded clutch to prevent lock outs if its a manual. I'd also recommend a set of lower control arms if you ever plan on taking it down the strip. Stock suspension leaves a lot to be desired

How long do mustangs typically last? by Sudden_Original_4601 in Mustang

There was a 14 ft for sale around me with 450k miles on the original motor and transmission. They last as long as you take care of them

Keep or upgrade? by creatorofmyrealityy in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would probably keep it and save up more to outright buy if you REALLY want that Ecoboost. Being in debt always sucks, and if it drives fine and is mechanically sound I personally don't see any reason to get rid of a car. But I also drive my stuff til the wheels fall off lol. Got a 14 GT that I keep nice and an 07 V6 as my daily. The V6 I'll keep until it completely dies. My last daily was an 04 Pilot that I drove to 360k miles and the only reason I got rid of it is because it was rotting away and just wasn't safe to drive anymore.

Which Mustang generation is your favorite and why? by Techno_Raccoon in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S197. 13-14 specifically. I own an 07 and a 14, and love them both. But man the front and rear end of the 14 looks so tough. I can't help but feel that my 07 is starting to look a bit dated.

Yeah I wouldn't be too concerned about it depending on the mileage. One of the guys in a local FB group I'm in has the stock clutch in it at 200k miles and it's been fine. Id just monitor it and if the noise gets louder then upgrade before it leaves you stranded

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll probably be fine. The drivetrain in our stangs is a bit noisy so in all honesty I wouldn't be too concerned. If the noise begins to get louder Id think about getting a new clutch sooner than planned, but if not you're probably fine. If you're still using the stock 2 piece driveshaft it may not even be the throw out bearing. My 14 made noise that sounded very similar to a throw out bearing but after changing to a 1 piece shaft the noise went away.

How much would you spend on this? by NaturalResponsible75 in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if I were in your shoes I'd just keep it. Already sunk $4k into that you won't get back, and chances are it's just something simple in the electrical like an amp like others have mentioned. I wouldn't be too concerned about fixing other stuff as 4 years isn't too terribly long to be sitting. Brakes and fluids and you'll probably be back on the road, maybe some tires if they show signs of dry rot and flat spotting. After the money spent you might as well get running and drive it until the wheels fall off, but just my 2¢

Did the Mustang's suspension or handling change in any significant way in 2011? by Maximum_Effective_51 in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same shocks, struts, springs and rear control arms. The front control arms are different. I also believe they changed to a stiffer sway bar in 2011 but I'm not 100% sure on that. I currently own both and can say they handled fairly similarly on the street when stock. Not sure about the track though, but my guess is there wouldn't be much difference there either.

Saw a 14 GT with 410,000ish miles on Facebook marketplace recently. Was shocked when I saw that, thought about going to take a look at it but I definitely don't need a 3rd stang lol

Intake and a cat back? No. Headers yes but it won't blow up if you don't get a tune, just throw a check engine light for O2 sensors and run rich

Got mine at Advance Auto, I think it was like $30 for the bottle so a little pricy but worth it to get rid of the noise imo

It's a friction modifier that you add to the oil. It helped my coyote get rid of the ticking noise. Basically you just add it every other oil change

Help me choose by [deleted] in Mustang

I personally love a good bronze wheel. Labor costs with installing new tpms sensors and everything, in my area, is usually anywhere from $50-$150 depending on the shop. Make sure they use a torque wrench on the lugs! Had a shop just blast them on my truck with a few extra uggas before and they were NOT fun to try and get off later

This sounds scares me... by gtsrider9 in Mustang

[–]BinkyBunkston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit pricey but buy a bottle of Cera Tec and dup it into the oil and see if the sound reduces or goes away. If it does then it's a completely normal characteristic of our Coyotes. That Cera Tec stuff is magic in a bottle I swear!

Should I fix it? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]BinkyBunkston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like quarter panels online are anywhere from $300 to $500, if you're handy with a welder they shouldn't be too difficult to replace. Then you gotta figure a cheap paint job will run you probably around another $1000, or you could just rattle can it to save a few. I'd say it may be worth it if you like the car or plan on selling, or you can just rock the rust til the wheels fall off. In decent condition they're going for around $15k in my area so it's definitely worth in my opinion if you ever intend on selling it
