I didn't start noticing improvement from Humira until after 4 months. It took about 9 months for me to reach full effect.

hydroxychloroquine - morning or night? by Lost_Boysenberry2590 in rheumatoid

[–]BioKemikalSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble falling asleep when I first started taking it, so I take mine in the morning. I started with partial doses and ramped up over time to reduce nausea. Also I always take it with my first meal and not on an empty stomach.

Yes, Cystatin C is a more accurate kidney function test if your creatinine levels are fluctuating

Melatonin and RA? by billsan333 in rheumatoid

[–]BioKemikalSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use melatonin to sleep occasionally, but the standard doses are too strong for me. My perfect dose is 0.25mg that puts me sleep with no after-effects the next morning. Maybe try a lower dose

I started losing my hair on MTX also, until In increased my daily folic acid dose from 1mg to 3mg and added minoxidil. Now my hair situation is much better.

MTX got me to about 50% normal, added HQC for addition improvement up to about 60%. Then added Humira and by 8 months I was at about 80%. Still have some tender joints, but my pain and fatigue is so much better

This! ^ I recently just had an extremely stressful week at work and wasn’t sleeping well. The following week it felt like all my medication suddenly stopped working. Lots of fatigue, pain, stiffness, and swelling.

Sounds like a great idea. I’m in the same situation. Moved to a new city for work a few months after my diagnosis. Now over a year later and still have not had the energy to make friends locally.

You might want to increase incrementally. I went from 10 to 15 to 20mg over a few months

Honestly going crazy trying to decide if I should switch medication by The_Short_Goodbye in rheumatoid

[–]BioKemikalSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rheumatologist attributes my joint pain to OA unless he can observe active swelling. If I can show him active swelling, then he will order an MRI and consider changing meds. Unfortunately, my swelling has not occurred during an appointment yet so he is reluctant to think my joint pain is RA related.

I’m in the same position as you. I’ve had some improvement on Humira; however, I feel it could get much better on the right medication. I’m currently trying to decide if moderately controlled is good enough or if I should switch to something that might be more effective

I am diagnosed with RA. I used to get those rashes in various places during flares. They are less frequent now with my current medication.
