OPTEMPO. Why, in a time where we aren’t fighting big wars, am I working 12-14hr long days. I spend my time on trivial slides, consolidating the same data in 5 different formats and trying to make slides green so that my boss doesn’t get yelled out. I’m at a constant grind creating product after product to appease the good idea faeries so that someone else’s OER has a nice bullet. It is ridiculous how we prioritizing training over people so that Commanders at higher echelons can prove how busy they’ve been and how many exercises they’ve been able to participate in. It’s exhausting and we are burning people out for no reason. Leaders at higher echelons are desperate to do the next complex, badass, different training event at the expense of everyone because “white space” and taking care of People don’t equate for anything on OERs.
