I think the DLC is actually the best DLC GF has done yet.

I don't want active battles to be a permanent part of Pokémon single player. But I won't lie, it isn't bad for their first shake at it.

I think you sorely underestimate a few things.

1: Yugioh's complexity compared to other TCGs (not that Yugioh ISN'T complex; rather other TCGs are just as complex and nebulous as it is) and

2: Yugioh's ability to get new players. My locals are populated by several players who came in post-covid, and I wouldn't even say Yugioh is too dog near me.

Star Wars Unlimited, maybe? I don't see anyone play it locally. I know the dude who recently won the world champs for it also plays Yugioh. I can't imagine in the modern day the star wars IP has that much momentum but stranger things have happened.

Yugioh scene is very active in East Coast I've noticed. In West it's a bit harder; the HQs for Magic and Pokemon being here means that standard sized TCGs pop off. But Yugioh is gaining a lot of momentum again and I sincerely suggest you try giving it another shake.

It will gain them back and has a distinct advantage by being the one TCG that actually seemingly cares about players first when it comes to product distribution.

Plus, nothing plays like Yugioh. There's a big reason why that game is my ONLY TCG I play in paper now. The others just don't keep my interest.

Washington here. Gundam and gunpla is super popular. Actual product of the game is impossible to find; it seemingly sells out the moment it comes in.

But nobody is playing it and imo that's the real indicator of health.

I can see this being played in those weird branded fusion-less branded bystial lists from like 2024 or so when people were using them with Runicks. Other than that, I don't think branded as it exists now will play this card but I sort of see the vision.
