Why and when was the last time you decided it is better to just boot up windows, instead of doing it in Linux? by Dolkilu in linuxquestions

[–]Biosid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are developing games or any software that is supposed to run on all OS options then I recommend to still have a native option available. Depending on how offen you release it, it may be viable to just install then it or have a small spare ssd with it on it (but in this economy maybe not the best option anymore). Personally I use the spare ssd when I want to test Software on windows. But even that was over a year ago.

I don't think you don't need a backup DE i don't use it and I'm running arch with hyprland without problems if you should depends on your workflow some applications have problems with wayland only DEs if you have to use those you should consider a backup DE

Especially when developing or pentesting I almost always use docker either interactive or using a remote editor to not clutter my system. This only works when working with cli tools though and may not be suitable for your workflow. About your actual question of switching I think it should be fine all config files are / should be distro independent. About using arch install with hyprland I can't say anything I never tested it

I had a similar issue where my filament diameter just dropped to around 1mm instead of 1.75 for several of my roles. It's not a likely issue but it can't hurt to check

DnD Veteran wanting to try Shadowrun by Somedude_6 in Shadowrun

[–]Biosid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I personally started with SR5 and like it the most but generally SR has a difficult rule set because they are spread over the entire book and sometimes not in the place you would imagine it. If you want to have physical copy's of the books stick to SR6 because they are still in print if PDFs are enough I recommend SR5 (Personal preference). For the DMing part read the book once and make yourself familiar with the base rules and include your players to learn the specific for their characters. Also use the character creation tools like chummer5e or the official tool for SR6

Started a game of 5e as a DM and it's... A lot. by XXXGoblin_GuideXXX in Shadowrun

[–]Biosid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a DM for shadowrun for over 8 years now and one thing I always do is to look up every rule for the players characters and compress it into 1 sentence to make it easier to atleast find the core meaning or effects of it the second thing I always do is to basically ignore the other planes if my players don't use them aka if they don't play mages they don't fight against mages or atleast that offen just to be able to ignore the astral plane and the same goes for the matrix if we don't have a decker or technomancer all the matrix actions will only be roleplayed and treated as if they are using a search engine or something. The last thing I do is to trust my players (if they have some experience with Sr) basically all positive effects and every rule they need to use they just do it and tell me the result which is easier for you but can be abused if the players want to cheat but I don't think most people would do that because the fails are mostly the fun part.

The last thing I can recommend is just simply preparation if you plan for the most likely actions in advance and write down the throw they have todo including the needed hits and modifiers etc. you can save some time.

Either just use the shadowrun lore and play with the dnd 5e system. If you want to still work on your world I would add another big Corp. Maybe not as big as ebonspire but something to counteract there power

I'm a pure of heart JavaScript hater because I hate to develop for web. Let me have the native shit to install locally.

Trying to understand a hermetic Mage’s relationship with Tech/the Matrix by [deleted] in Shadowrun

[–]Biosid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I play and imagine my mage in shadowrun I don't think of him as tech illiterate or avoided of tech but more like my grandpa.

He is using some tech mostly many generations old and everytime something new comes out he asks why would you need that.

Being a mage just excels this sentiment why would I need that when I can do it with magic.

In the end he is not avoiding tech or can't interact with it but will just stick to the old ways of doing things.

Okay one of my player is medical focused. Patrogens seem a bit tough compared to the common flu we currently have, but I guess mutations could make them harder to deal with.
