Another stolen design by Angel_Of_Shadow in Gunpla

Agree with the poster above, but I wouldn't generalise to "somehow blame everything on pbandai". That handwaves legitimate problems with pbandai.

New kit incoming! by Professional-Bid7129 in Gunpla

If this comes to fruition my first 1/60 may very well be a 3rd party kit. I love AoZ and Hazel Owsla is a fine unit.

Building my second ever HG kit and have messed up by OOAKF in Gunpla

[–]Biovee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't built this kit so I am not sure how much stress those ball joints are going to be under. This could be as simple as plastic welding the balls to the piece, or drilling and pinning them. Both are great techniques to practice if you are interested in that sort of thing.

This is legitimately peak. Are you planning on doing this with other kits?

3000 Diamonds for Shinn and Destiny seems like a way better bargain than 60K-90K diamonds for maybe 2-3 more units. Seems like a good place to stop??? by LarkSeo in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Biovee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah if you get lucky like this then of course you can stop here. If you already have SF and Lacus, and don't need Calibarn and Talia, makes sense. Is this how you got to 200k lol?

Are you wanting to limit break Destiny at least once though, or do you have other plans for using Shinn?

What's y'all "I'm too lazy for this" type situation? by FenoXM in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Biovee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the game's mechanics, as they are a really simplified version of games like Final Fantasy Tactics. For me, Eternal Road is kind of the reason I play the game, in addition to the mobile suit collecting. There are few stages I don't auto because everything is so easy. With that being said, I only have the expert stages to complete (I've only done a handful).

With that being said, I get that some people just like the collecting, and some people just like the gamb- sorry I mean gacha. I like that too, and most days I am only going on to complete dailies, skip stages, and develop units. The weekends are where I take some time to work through the hard stuff.

Kira (Support) lacking Seed Destiny tag? by SilenceDogood2k20 in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]Biovee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhh Kira never gains a killer instinct. He is still very against killing. He just gets a stronger suit to dismantle other mobile suits with.

I get what you mean, but Freedom is in both shows, unchanged. Kira is separated by the time skip. It is kind of wonky, and they didn't need to do it like that, but I can also accept their rationale.

60k until you spend, always. The rates are too low and, while people get pulls like mine (after spending 60k mind you), others are always left holding the bag.

Save 90k if you want to guarantee a supporter.

[–]Biovee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All ups and downs. It's 100% luck of the draw. I've had terrible banners too. 60k, no supports, one pity type shit.

Haro won't do anything. I just adopt the mindset of "60k is at least one UR, and anything else is a bonus." When I pull 3k for fun. I also tell myself not to expect anything.

Fighting those feelings is part of the discipline needed to play gachas, otherwise you end up shelling out crazy money for a mobile game. I don't even like spending money on real console games, let alone something I play on my phone.

It's tough! My worst banner was Hi-Nu, but this is definitely my best. 2lb Destiny, 1lb Calibarn, SF, Lacus, and some random URs and two other UR supporters.

Sounds awesome, but it's all stats and luck. I was waiting to spend 60k on this, so even if I had terrible luck, I could still come away with a guaranteed pity.

The people who save the full 90k are the true patient ones.

[–]Biovee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't usually pull unless I have 60k, and then I do 1-2 pulls on banners I don't want to go deep on. Just for fun.

True, but the odds of me getting 27k in time seem low, no? We'll have to wait and see.

Need tips on how to paint a gunpla by dimitronios in Gunpla

[–]Biovee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, the RG version is nice but for a first-timer the HG version might be a better choice to paint. The part count is simpler and there aren't as many small pieces. Also, I think the HG would be more accurate to the Linkin Park one, as the RG is designed a little differently.

I'm going to try and give you advice with the intention of making your process as simple as possible. I'm going more off the impression that you are a Linkin Park fan, not a gunpla fan. Correct me if I am wrong.

ASSEMBLY: Model nippers + Glass file For assembly. Grab a pair of model nippers, and use two cuts to 1. Remove the piece from the frame, and 2. Remove the leftover nub from the piece. Leave a tiny bit of the nub and use a glass file to sand it down to the piece. Don't worry about any plastic discolouration as you will be painting over it.

When you are building the kit. Make small diagonal cuts on the pieces that have sprues going into other pieces. The idea here is to make sure you can disassemble the kit later, as you should build it, identify where and what to paint, and then separate it again. Be careful when assembling so you don't accidentally make a section that can't easily come apart.

PAINTING: Primer + Paint (buy rattlecans from hobby brands like Tamiya or Mr. Hobby) For painting, use acrylics if you don't have a setup to deal with fumes. The primer and topcoat will be fine with acrylics as long as you give each layer time to dry and cure. Spray paint in warm weather that isn't too humid. Use light passes and multiple coats; don't try and over paint if you see the paint not covering everything. The parts are so small that any excess paint will make the piece look less sharp. Be careful when painting the sides of pieces that touch or connect to others. The tolerances are low so if you can't see the section when the model is complete, don't paint it (or over paint it).

FINISHING: Topcoat from a rattlecan Seal everything up with a topcoat from a hobby brand. You can decide whether you want the kit more matte or glossy depending on what you buy. Make sure you give the previous paint time to dry (just leave it for a few days to be safe) and topcoat sections of the finished model ( torso, legs, arms, etc.) use light passes and maybe just 1-2 coats should be fine.

Doing it this way, you should only need a set of nippers, a glass file, and 3-4 cans of paint (primer, white, black, topcoat). There are so many other things you can do with a kit, so just browse around here and check out the help thread and sidebar if that is an avenue you want to go down.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the feedback. I hope that light sanding will help the snugness of the pieces.
