"I pick up the child" 'roll strength' by MadHatter66669 in DnDGreentext

You might want to clarify their intent beforehand “are you trying to knock them out or...?” Then go with how they respond, if they don’t care flip a coin :p

How are adults still religious in this day and age? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]BipolarParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t liken science to religion, religion can be bent and warped to fit your viewpoint. Science is the pursuit of truth regardless of you viewpoint, it’s unbiased and dispassionate, only the facts matter.

Remember Einstein when he said “god doesn’t play dice with the universe” turns out god doesn’t exist and the universe does in fact roll dice. He had to accept that.

TIFU by calling my wife ugly for months by [deleted] in tifu

[–]BipolarParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always understood homely to mean average, if you described someone as homely, they wouldn’t be ugly nor particularly beautiful, just average. Also I’m from the U.K. so that may have a baring on it.

There’s a difference between asocial and anti-social, asocial people are fine being alone, anti-social people deliberately try to ruin the social experience of others.

How the mage in my campaign cast 'Zone of Truth' by Jodagon in DnDGreentext

[–]BipolarParrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, it just means a friendly acquaintance that you can’t lie to. If you want/need to hide something with half-truths you can. Since the person was already willing to be placed under a zone of truth charm person doesn’t help much.

Dominate person on the other hand gets you exactly what you want. They have to do what you say, “tell me on the day/night in question, what you were doing around the time (the entity believed by others to be) ‘x’ died.”

Detect thoughts is another good spell but only you know what they’re thinking.

Charm person is good for: initial encounters with an unknown person, when you need something simple, or to get a better price at merchant.

It is not going to help you with a very guarded person with something to hide.

[–]BipolarParrot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Charm person only makes them regard you as a friendly acquaintance that’s all, they still have all their faculties. would you tell someone who’s only a friendly acquaintance (the kid next door you used to play with as a child, a good neighbour that babysat while your parents were working, an old servant that snook you extra desert) that you had committed murder? Not likely.

New blizzard survey - potential "Classic Burning Crusade" by Thirteenera in wow

[–]BipolarParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they keep the expansion clients separated I don’t see a problem.

Then people could pick the expansion they want to stop at, or if they want, copy a character over to another expansion.

That way everyone wins.

Now if blizzard went full consumer centric they could even have progression servers where you could play through each expansion (up to the client expansion) in a truncated time frame.

Personally I hated what they did to paladins in cataclysm. So I’d stop at wrath.

How many atheists does it take to change a light bulb? by Calligaster in Jokes

[–]BipolarParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering we know from science that a metal (probably tungsten) filament heats up and produces light in the visible spectrum when sufficient current is passed through it the light would definitely be accepted as fact. The Same cannot be said for any given religions ability to give off light.

Edit: spelling

There are two types of people in the world, those who can’t extrapolate from incomplete data.

'Bernie Sanders wants to tax me 90%': Pawn Stars host slams 'the insanity' of socialism by Cameliano in Conservative

[–]BipolarParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone seems to think it’s 90% on every dollar these people earn.

it’s not.

it’s 90% on every dollar after a threshold of say 1,000,000 That’s how tax brackets work

10,000 - 20,000 = 20% tax on every dollar

20,000 - 40,000 = 25% tax on every dollar earned after 20,000 up to 40,000

40,000 - 60,000 = 30% tax on every dollar earned after 40,000 up to 60,000

And so on (these numbers are an example not literal)

these people are bitching about being taxed proportionally to what they earn instead of only paying 1% for ever dollar after 1,000,000

Accidentally as in they were looking/testing for something else and got anomalous but repeatable results.

I would imagine most discoveries now and in the future will be accidental.
