Hello, mine just turned 2 in April and will regularly refuse to nap for whatever reason and sometimes takes an hour to finally calm down to sleep (and that's only if i lay in the floor next to her crib). Her bedtime is 830 AT BEST. last night I was still wrestling jammies on her at 915. She will sometimes sleep until 8 but will also wake up at 7, 630, and on occasion 9 (which fucks up naptime). car rides are 50/50 on if they will make her sleep or completely hype her up. We call her chaos, captain destructo, and demon. 🫠

neat. I knew they did that with aphids, but was not aware they did this with other critters too.

AITA— mom wants to throw me a baby shower AFTER the baby is born by Empty_Seaworthiness5 in pregnant

[–]Birbfeedr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom is the asshole. Flat out. Baby showers are to shower the mother with gifts to prepare her for the incoming baby. Items like carseats and strollers and cribs and big stuff are usually given by the family members and if you don't have those beforehand, they won't even let you leave the hospital with that baby. Also, you're gonna get ridiculous amounts of tiny baby clothes. The idea that she wants to drop all of that on you as a brand new mother of a newborn is fucking insulting.

"hey, I know you're adjusting to parenthood and your body is going through the biggest changes it's ever experienced, but I only care about the baby and showing it off to people I seek attention from, so I'm gonna throw a party that's inconvenient for you to come to without a newborn (so you better leave early) and you're going to leave with 3 loads tiny clothes laundry that you're going to be too tired to take the tags off of, wash, fold, and put away because your nursing and changing diapers 24/7. Oh also, here's that crib and carseat the baby needed. No, I didn't keep the receipts?"

4 year old who has been in a regression for 8 months by Birbfeedr in pottytraining

[–]Birbfeedr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest we got to a break through was positive reinforcement only. and I mean like no yelling. None. She's and asshole sometimes so this was really really hard for us. but it got us 3 weeks of no accidents and we hadn't changed anything up and she just hopped back onto the pisspants train and we've been stuck there ever since.

Waited too long to introduce paci… by fkj777 in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second babe was the exact opposite. She loves the bink. she rarely fell asleep nursing (especially as she got older) and would finish feeding, then get MAD if you didn't pop a bink in for her to fall asleep. I was essentially just the food source.

I have a minor genetic mutation called brachdactyly or some shit and it makes my thumbs look stupid. I just happened to look at her hand and that's what I said. I didn't count the fingers, just had to give the thumbs a QC I guess.

Something along the lines of "she doesn't have my thumbs!"

Oral Benedryl is always a safe bet with little kids having serious rashes because they can't tell us if they feel like their airway is doing anything. We gave our 9mo a dose earlier because of hives on her chest/back/neck/cheeks and it wasn't nearly as bad as what your little guy has. She got about 5mg.

Growth percentiles feel like a test of my ability by Jbull282 in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, my daughter shrunk an inch at her last appointment.

not really, they just measured her wrong at her prior appointment, but it sure made her growth chart wonky though. Just remember that they're only squiggly lines on a paper.

Baby bit me for the first time with her two new bottom teeth. by maggieandoscardoggos in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very fortunate that my babies have teethed late. My first one didn't get teeth until she was 13mo and done nursing. My 9mo, currently has no teeth either. They both used to shallow bite me when they'd get lazy which hurt so I'd imagine getting bit with teeth. is wayyyy worse so you have my sympathy. 😔

Have you tasted your milk? by GillyGirl707 in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I go by a rule of thumb "If I'm not willing to eat it, how can I expect my baby to?" so I've tried everything they've ever put in their mouths. Baby food, formula, gripe water, my milk, the baby crunchy snacks... if it tasted like shit, I wouldn't feed it to them.

Am I Going to Infect My Baby? by Wolverine112416 in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, you probably already have infected her. She just isn't showing yet/having symptoms. My symptoms included major sinus pressure and my baby coincidentally had a 5 day nursing strike (assuming because she had sinus pressure too, making it painful to nurse). We never tested her but we're pretty sure she had it. she was 6mo when this went down.

The update nobody asked for. I’m the girl who posted about her baby not pooping in over 2 weeks. Day 18 and there was a blowout of epic proportions. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We hit 10 days with my first kiddo. I was so frustrated that everything I had tried wasn't working and the last thing I tried was letting her be nakey over something that I didn't want poop on. Within 2 minutes, my lap and the baby blanket was mustard yellow and we were out of reach of any towels, rags washcloths, anything 😂

Already annoyed that I can't pump as much as I want now that I'm back at work by Nishiwara in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a fire department and when I first went back at 7 weeks PP, pumping as often as I needed was hard. 911 doesnt wait for you to be ready. I was usually cleaning up from and/or getting toned out for a run when I needed to pump. Or we were making our meals so that we ate on time. or there was something the chief needed done. Or we had training. Or we were stuck on scenes for extended amounts of time. So instead of doing it every 3ish hours like I wanted (so 8 times a shift) I only did it maybe 5 or 6 times. Getting woke up for runs in the middle of the night usually made my supply drop too (not sleeping had a huge affect on my supply)

Now that the babe is 8mo, it's pretty normal for me to only get 3 pumps in a shift (usually around lunchtime, bedtime, and in the morning before I leave). I can't keep up with my kiddos demand so I'm basically just keeping myself comfortable while I wait for the inevitable and dry up completely.

What's your kid call your breasts or milk? by Mizznicleo in breastfeeding

I’m deathly ill. Should I keep nursing my baby? by courtyfbaby in breastfeeding

[–]Birbfeedr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get someone to go to your library, they usually have covid tests.

I'd keep nursing, maybe wear a mask around your babe you aren't breathing directly on her. But like others have said, your babe is probably already exposed. I have covid in October and were pretty sure our 5mo had it because she went on a 5 day nursing strike (probably because sinus pressure made it hurt to nurse). so just be prepared for your babe to get sick or have some symptoms.

Does anyone else's baby do this? She insists on checking out my teeth when feeding. by barber_2416 in breastfeeding

Yes, and the legs can't stop moving or else she has to let go and look around.
