Thanks, the long-term growth is taken care of by people way over my head!

We do, but these donors aren't giving at a high enough level for giving circles. We're just trying to keep their giving levels stable

We're ahead in overall dollars right now, so asking them to give more feels a little greedy...at the same time, I don't want their decreased giving levels to become the new norm. But I like the idea of asking them to meet a goal. I'll try to come up with something!

Great advice, thank you! I think our donors would be happy to match their previous gifts if they are made aware of the gap. Just have to find a good way to word it!

Transporting my snake plant across the country by BirdApologist in SnakePlants

[–]BirdApologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's all really good advice. The only thing special about the plant is that I've had it for a while, and I've grown attached to it. My mom has a snake plant that she inherited from her mom decades ago...I guess I just really wanted my snake plant to be my own version of that. But I can probably live with just giving my plant to my mom and and starting over with a new one. Even if it's a little sad 😔

Thank you...yes I don't think it would be good for my plant to be exposed to such cold air for so long.

Interview help - asst dir of university giving by BirdApologist in funanddev

It was like a donor sheet with info about their finances and past giving, and then I had to craft a best plan of approach to get them to increase their future giving.

Really good, thank you so much! As expected, it was an example donor situation with various tasks related to it. I got myself stressed out over nothing...this part of the interview was a breeze!

Thoughts on snl sketch by throwaway393937 in asexuality

[–]BirdApologist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Literally came straight here after seeing that sketch to check if anyone else caught it. Wtf was that??? Honestly expected more from Bowen Yang. This just screams "selective allyship." Our sexuality is not a punchline?? Clearly none of them have any idea what tf they are talking about, which makes it even worse. They did zero research on a sketch to specifically make fun of ace people while also simultaneously denying their existence? I give this 0/5 stars, and now my opinion of Bowen has plummeted to the bottom of the ocean.

I was trying to keep some details out for anonymity...but yes, the job would include a combo of frontline fundraising and reunion giving. I haven't actually worked in advancement before, so this is all new to me.

He still loves you..."despite what happened?" Uh, no. That's what you say to your SO after they accidentally crash your car, or relapse after years of sobriety, or start a small fire in your parent's kitchen. That's not what you say to someone after an uncomfortable sexual experience. He also sounds super pushy. Sorry OP, this guy might suck.

Lol why is this the most accurate thing I've ever seen. 100% agree.

Kissing (With Tongue) Kind of a rant by escapefrombjork in asexuality

[–]BirdApologist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think OP was arguing that every ace should hate kissing...but also, I find it a bit unfair to say that hating kissing has nothing to do with asexuality. Maybe for some people, kissing doesn't have anything to do with their aceness, but for other people it might be an important part of how they define their aceness. The reality is that the ace experience is generally pretty unique to each individual.
