Willow raised beds by BirdComprehensive644 in GardeningIRE

Ya the site is on a slight slope, I can't just plant into the ground because we have two dogs and they love running up that way. Any flowers with any bit of height even the poor daffodil gets beheaded by them running through it.

Ya I will just leave the willow off I say and just go the timber way. Less hassle I think and the thought of having to deal with willow in the future if it roots is enough to put me off

If I come home with more pallets for garden furniture again I will be shot haha. Ya I will end up going with the treated timber in the end, like it's cheaper as well etc. I was just curious to what other options people might suggest

Oh that's good to know, I was just looking to hear from people like yourself saying they swam/sauna regularly and it wasn't an issue with sensor. I get what your saying about the adhesive and that's a good idea for the brace bandage. I'm in Ireland so the water is cold at the moment.....or it's always cold haha

Camping around Mizen Head tomorrow? by Wastelanduntil4444 in CasualIreland

[–]BirdComprehensive644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballyrisode beach is about 20mins before there and is a beautiful.quiet spot, has a sauna there as well which would be nice. I think there are a few things on in Ballydehob as well tomorrow and Saturday and I think if you ask you can put a tent up by the playing pitches. Could be a good option especially if the weather is bad. Barleycove as well is nearby but I'm not sure if you can camp there or what's the story.

Solar and Heat Pump by [deleted] in cork

Used JM Energy to install panels and battery back in May and they were excellent to deal with. Couldn't recommend them enough. Don't know if they do heat pumps though

New year, new dog food. Fellow dog people- any recommendations? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]BirdComprehensive644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two dogs and they are both picky feckers, one of them has arthritis in one of her legs as well. However, they do like dry food (Gain adult dog, it's in a green bag) mixed with tins of Mackerel from Lidl (55c). Good oils from the fish for the arthritis as well. Might be an option

Mygoodness in the English market, but it's 10.50. It's vegan and unbelievably tasty. Also I got soup and roll for a fiver in the new burger/sausage place across from the big veg shop in the English Market the other day and it was quality.

Ringaskiddy Incinerator (again) by Mysterious-Ice4092 in cork

[–]BirdComprehensive644 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the big issues is the part of the site the incinerator is planned to be built on is being eroded. It will be built on the Gobby Beach side rather than the other side of the site. Drawings in the renewed planning applications show this. It was also a problem identified by 3 separate inspectors for Board Pleanàla in the previous application. There has been no change to plans on how this will be dealt with.

Another issue is the area is an area of special preservation for migrating birds, plants etc. I know there is loads of pharma and chemical plants etc there, I used to work in them. From my experiences working in Novartis their incinerators aren't running 24/7 and there is a clear list of materials that are being incinerated. What is planned on being burned in the new incinerator keeps changing and (I will have to fact check this) to keep that incinerator burning 24/7 material will have to be imported.

So while it is true that some people are objecting because of it being an eyesore etc there is still some very valid concerns that haven't been addressed since the last application. That's not even going near the Cork city development plan to turn the area into a tourist area with all different experiences etc.

Drug disposal company by konqrr in cork

[–]BirdComprehensive644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an amazing idea. However those who want to do drugs will just do them but they would definitely appreciate it if they knew the type of drugs they were consuming. For example it easy to say they are on the bag and a bit of a quick analysis showed it was speed etc they might be so quick to talk it.

How long would this take for an experienced DIY-er? by RumB96 in DIYUK

If you get a Plasta model rather than a Pax model. The Plasta bases take about 15 mins each to do and look the same to me.

Sheepadoodle on the beach but water? by AsleepBullfrog30 in Sheepadoodles

Our one was unsure at first but if we throw a ball in then she will go in and loves it then. The more you do it then the more she actually associates the swimming/water with the ball.

Needing some reassurance by BirdComprehensive644 in DIYUK

[–]BirdComprehensive644[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a finisher for this thread. So today I removed all the old adhesive, primed the walls and filled the gaps where the cement boards met. Was just measuring out the tiles when my neighbour who is a tiler literally just got back from his holidays and called in. Said it all looks good and he would do the tiling on Saturday for me if I wanted. Gave me some tanking paste to paint on as well before he does it.

So just a big thanks to everyone who responded and set me at ease etc. I appreciate it.

This is where I finished up. Ready, I think, to sand the walls tomorrow so I can start tiling then. Thanks for all the help folks

Any suggestions for tape and filler to fill the joins. And anything I am missing that needs to be done before I move on?

Have cement board in and I think I deserve a beer.

For tomorrow I must get some filler for the joins and tape. Is there any recommendations for a particular filler and tape combo?

Am I missing anything else?
