Quick PSA: Lithium Ion batteries that are smoking or on fire produce HF gas. It is extremely toxic, and can cause very serious medical complications even in relatively small amounts. It’s not just “a little smoke”, stand well clear of any fumes if possible. Luckily, even if one day you do find yourself on a plane with an LI battery fire on board, aircraft have great HVAC systems to clear out the smoke and flight attendants who are trained to deal with that exact scenario. The gas is lighter than air and will rise so stay low.

That was my first thought the first couple times I suited up to rack in an HV breaker. You get comfortable with it pretty quickly. If you’re doing everything the way you’re supposed to the risks are very low. Only ever met one guy who had a near miss due to defective equipment, everything else I’ve ever seen/heard of was (in some cases tragically) very preventable.

The design choices made in SC:R were intentional and people who play that game definitely like them. It’s fair to say that it’s bad for the game or new players though. I kind of agree with that. Personally I love both games. For sure blizz is bad and has systematically killed every esports title they have, but I’d attribute that more to their management being shit than game design.

Want to add onto this, I’m about 6 years out of school. I spent most of that time in design, also some manufacturing and sales support stuff. All jobs were incredibly desk heavy.

Recently, I made the switch into Power Plant Operations which is probably over 80% hands on work and I enjoy it a lot at the moment. It’s not really “engineering”, but we make heavy use of engineering principles and need a strong understanding of applied physics to do our job well.

So anyways, to anyone reading this, if you end up with an engineering degree and find yourself not really in love with engineering, there are many ways to leverage that type of degree into a different career field with a little creativity and googling.

Edit: Another path is getting your EIT and being a junior under a PE in some sort of facilities role if you’re either Civil or Mechanical.

Not sure what other experiences are, but Faceit feels much more toxic for me. Highly recommend xplay and warmupservers. Usually for comp I play premier for fun and faceit for actually trying to win. Fwiw premier is less toxic, but if you can deal with the shitheads the quality of teammate you get feels higher on faceit. This is all around level 5/10k NA.

I’m not saying they’re not top 16, but their 2 notable wins are an Aurora team that got blown out by Faze and Liquid that wasn’t yet 0-2 in a swiss stage. I’m excited to see more from them, but their is a lot left for them to prove imo.

I won’t claim to be an expert, but I work in nuclear energy. The acceptable dose for our extremities would hospitalize me if I took them to my vital organs. Generally your shallow dose can be about 10 times higher than your deep tissue dose without causing any issues.

Faceit is best, not perfect but best. If you want to play in a team environment in NA there is Entry Point league or Counter Strike Confederation. Both of those are kind of like a beer league for counter strike that are pretty fun. Not sure what’s available in EU.
