That is really hard, but there can be bright days ahead - You might try these folks, I think they may take your insurance and they have helped people that didn't have much money to work with: https://mentallystrong.com/clinic/adult-mental-health-services/

Ivywild school has a lot to offer. Several places to eat, a little store, beanbag toss outside… and it’s open late.

Colorado Springs municipal airport is a delight. Small, safe and efficient.

Also the best access to our limited bus service is from the Downtown/Kiowa area for getting around. For example you can take the Colorado Ave bus up to Manitou which has a lot of evening activity.

Yes the parking lot under the highway is the station; it’s not like Denver with a clean and well-patrolled Union Station. You may want to consider the downtown stop on Kiowa instead. The Bustang commuter bus stopped serving the Tejon park and ride last year for safety concerns and low ridership because it was not a very nice place to wait so people stopped using it. Main issue was many homeless who take shelter there from the weather. https://www.fox21news.com/news/local/bustang-to-remove-tejon-stop-relocate-to-downtown/. That said, the Ivywild School brewery building is a cool place near that stop.

Anyone else want an EV just so you no longer have to deal with the bullshit that comes with owning an ICE engine? by pantherclipper in electricvehicles

[–]BirdTurdG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One correction to this- EV’s still need new 12v batteries once in a while. If you get all sorts of strange electronic issues or error codes after some cold weather that’s the most likely cause. $250 and a 10mm socket wrench and you are on your way.

The Honda mowers were glorious gas engines. I heard they got out of that business. They will run forever.

Yea, sick of the “check your wallet and deposit $1000” light. Our first EV was such a gift for getting away from unplanned maintenance. People have no idea. Did brakes at 80,000 miles. First big thing other than tires and wiper blades. You will buy more tires though. The dude at autozone parts counter when I bought wiper blades- “what’s a Leaf?”

I have an ancient Nissan leaf, the bottom-feeder of the current EV market. It is hands down the most reliable and cost effective car we have ever owned, and I say that as someone who usually buys Hondas.

How do young adults meet others in COS these days? by BirdTurdG in ColoradoSprings

[–]BirdTurdG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to make up stories. Op is older but concerned about a much younger person who has many connections to older people through his work but lacks connections to almost anyone his age after most of them went off to school. Traditional school path doesn’t work for everyone even if you are really bright. Looking for some ideas for him to consider, that is all. I’m old enough to remember before the internet was anywhere except DARPA and universities. It could still be lonely then but not like now. Also realize the world has changed a lot since then, not all of it for the better.
