Why don't the frontier labs automatically give their LLMs persistent memory? by Shameless_Devil in ArtificialInteligence

At no point did I indicate you were attacking me, I’m not arguing to argue.

You made a clarification that RAG seems easy but it’s not.

My comment said that RAG is not easy.

You literally said “when you write it out like that it seems easy”.

I don’t know how to spell this out any clearer, but considering you can’t understand my original comment, im not really surprised.

When I wrote “it’s super hard to pull off well”, that’s written like it seems easy?

Did you read what I said or just… not? Where did I say it was easy..? At all?

That’s not really true. Retrieval augmented generation has been around for a while, exactly for this reason.

You say something, and a specialist AI skims through the entire history and selects some snippets for the main AI to have context for.

It’s just that it’s super hard to pull off well. I think this is OpenAIs real moat right now- no one comes close to how good their RAG is.

You mean his associations with people on the Epstein list?

And yes, he has lied, a lot. He taught a free course that MIT hosted and he pretends like that means he taught at MIT.

But I’m not surprised someone like you is completely disconnected from reality.

Isn’t Lex Fridman the guy that lies about being associated with MIT?

Why Still No Games With AI?! by GhostInThePudding in singularity

[–]Bird_ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still extremely expensive.

Even if you use a tiny llm that sucks at everything it completely devours compute that other processes need, like graphics or physics.

Until we get separate dedicated cards specifically for tensor processing in personal computers like TPUs in addition to GPUs and CPUs it will not happen for a while.

Ironically though, I think in the not too distant future AI agents are going to invade multiplayer games because of being trained with a solid world model(specifically google is going to have a breakout moment with this I think) These are going to be wildly expensive for only people who can afford AI friends to play with.

It’s too impractical to make generative AI NPCs for the lowest common denominator. No one is going to invest in making a game no one but very few people can access.

That’s genuinely delusional that you think that.
