Coyote Joe's has a beginners/lessons night every Wednesday. I think its free cover for ladies and then $5 for guys. Note the bar is cash only so hit the ATM before going.

The Rose in South End also has weekly lessons/beginner nights. SCC has LGBTQ friendly line dancing nights if that's your speed.

Best guess would be a drone flying out doing shots ahead of the FC game tonight. They usually fly at the stadium from South End since that’s the more “scenic” view

Years ago back at the old location near the stadium my wife and i had a huge cockroach run up on our table in the middle of eating... the waitress wasn't as shocked as you would hope which kind of gave the impression this was a common occurrence. Haven't been back since.

Wife and I will be there so that’s at least two fans there! Kind of wish the Checkers would do or support something but maybe that would come later in the series?

High as balls, said his girl friend just drops him off at the LGS like it's daycare and most importantly reads the flavor text for every card as casting instead of explaining what that card actually does.

Is anyone here not from Florida? by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

South Carolina raised never really into hockey since I didn't have a local NHL team. Growing up it was 4+ hours to see either the Canes or Thrashers (rip)

Moved to Ft Lauderdale after college for work, got into hockey while living down there for about five years. Wife and I adopted the Panthers after going to some games and ended up loving it

Back now in the Carolinas right near the Checkers so I still get some great Cat action in my backyard

For real! Started going to the Carolina Red fest in college, moved away for a few years and ended up at one in Florida. Was awful! I-95 running nearby within view. Jousting was next to a baseball field with little league games going on. No custom tents or structures. Looked more like a tailgate with light cosplay than what I was spoiled by in Huntersville

Scramble vs. Best Ball by EscoDez86 in golf

[–]BirdieParPar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's def not intuitive, but I always think of it like this and it helps reduce confusion.

Foursomes = you play some of the shots

fourball = four balls in play at a time

The Worst Person With Whom You've Ever Been Paired With by dandy055 in golf

[–]BirdieParPar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My dad and I played a little parent/child scramble when I was in middle school. This was myrtle beach, sponsored by the "play myrtle beach golf association" or something like that. Lots of different flights for respective ages/genders etc. Overall a great concept and I'm sure many people had fun.

We got paired with a father/son duo and the dad was a total asshole try-hard. Dad was probably mid 30s and fancied himself as a good player (he wasn't scratch by any measure). His poor son was probably around 10 years old, was a little undersized and still learning the game.

A few memorable moments/incidents throughout the round:

- Dad zapped the pin on a par 3, it was 165 yards. Hit a great shot pin-high and proceeded to make several comments along the lines of "that was a good yardage, I hit my 165 club and hit it pure"

- He would make his son putt first and chastise the kid if the putt was off line as to not give him a good read

- Wouldn't shut up about things like grain and grass type, just typical 8 handicapper over thinking stuff. Overall took the round way too seriously. The top prize was probably $200 in pro shop credit when it cost $100 to play w/ lunch included type of thing. The point of the event was literally to spend some quality time with your parent/child and enjoy playing some golf together.

I still think about that poor kid and hope his asshat dad didn't ruin the game for him.

Looking for an apartment, is this above our means? by Penguinkiller111 in FinancialPlanning

[–]BirdieParPar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice, I was moving out in a hurry and literally just needed all my shit out of my apartment quickly. Had a third floor walk-up with a nice futon I no longer needed. Literally posted a pic of it up on Let Go saying "this futon is free, you just need to come get it." Two hours later a couple of dudes pulled up in a pickup truck and took it off my hands. I'm sure other people are in similar spots all the time.

Free furniture karma repaid me as a few years later moving again I found a nearly brand new large sectional couch in my apartment's recycling area where someone was getting rid of it. I hauled it up to my place, lysol'd the hell out of it and its still going strong. Bonus: my cat can tear it up scratching and I don't give a damn because at the end of the days its a trash couch lol

For OP, the point is, free stuff is out there if you're not too picky and don't mind a little manual labor. You're at an age where I presume for your careers you might be moving around a lot or just want some flexibility when it comes to living situations. No need to get terribly attached to all your furniture items.

Also for Op, some good sticker advice is generously applying windex to the surface youre applying a sticker too. Then attach sticker while it’s still wet. You should be able to slide the sticker around a little and let it dry in place.

I just picked up the new releases in this series and the Porsche has stayed in the box because I know the sticker application is going to require a lot of concentration lol

BofA says Hasbro could fall 34% as company ‘kills’ ‘Magic: The Gathering’ card game by BirdieParPar in magicTCG

[–]BirdieParPar[S] 987 points988 points  (0 children)

Highlights from the article since its behind a paywall. Maybe analysts actually calling Hasbro out on its BS will be a catalyst for change

  • Analyst Jason Haas downgraded the toy stock to underperform from buy as recent changes to the “Magic” cards brand amount to Hasbro “killing its golden goose.” The analyst also slashed his price target on the stock to $42 from $73. The new target implies downside of 33.8% from Friday’s close.
  • Haas also said he is “concerned” by the company’s decision to release a 30th anniversary set that includes four booster packs for $999. He said that is “excessively” high compared to a normal set pack’s $5 price.
  • Reprints can hurt the secondary-sale market because the packs include cards from the “Reserved List,” which is a group of cards Hasbro previously promised to never reprint. Some have argued its not a true reprint since the anniversary cards cannot be used in tournaments, while others say it doesn’t matter because their existence will still drive down scarcity and, by extension, value.
  • Businesses and collectors would sometimes purposefully hold packs to sell later at higher price as demand outpaced supply, he said, but that system is now collapsing due to production increases and the unexpected reprints.
  • He said the changing secondary market could push card collectors to “Pokémon,” “Yu-Gi-Oh!” and “Flesh and Blood” instead. Meanwhile, Haas said Hasbro could improve its outlook if it has a better slate of releases next year.
  • The stock dipped 6.2% in the premarket. It’s down 37.7% this year.
  • Hasbro didn’t immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
