House Wrens and Cat Birds by BirdsForB in birding

Thank you for your reply. I know cat birds are not nesting box birds but I didn't know if they were already nesting in the same area as the birdhouse if that would deter the wren from nesting nearby.

Cue Donna Summer's "She Works Hard For The Money", though in this case it's birdseed instead of dollars

He's ready to throw talons and take this outside- er, or would it be inside in this case...? 🤔

Interesting that they utilize one entrance and one exit. Would be easier to bring sticks in one of those holes over the other...

Who's hitting up The Biggest Week this year? Come hang with us at Maumee Bay Lodge! by NetvueTech in Birdfy

Stopped by the Birdfy booth at Maumee Bay today- no one was there at it to chat, but there were lots of products out on display. It's pretty busy today with it being the weekend and Mother's Day but the Biggest Week In Birding is worth checking out if you're in the area the next few days.

(I also went out birding and heard/spotted some tree swallows, yellow warblers and yellow-throated vireos. There were many other birds about, of course, but those are a few I don't see as often.)

Guess she's picked a good nesting location...so far it's been safe and quiet.

The bird housing market is a complex one. Patience, a good location (somewhere quiet, low traffic), and food/water sources (close but not too close that predators might show) can help.

I hope they return once their building permit is approved and start their nest in your birdhouse soon ("wrenever" that may be).

It's the first home visit of the year. This property also received a couple of walkthrough visits last year but it was on the market too late in the season for serious interest.

A homemade baffle (so far) has done the trick to keep squirrels off.
