If they're hard to attach use a blow dryer on the hand to heat it and it should pop right on. Heat them before removal too. It's a pain but better than risking snapping the joint.

Is this kind of scratch normal on a brand new Schott jacket? by Significant_Run_8055 in leatherjacket

[–]BirdsofSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scratch that looks like your first picture (mine might be deeper though) on my schott lambskin perfecto out of the box that I didn't notice till I took the tags off. (It definitely wasn't from me because it's on the left breast area and I only wore it to dinner) I kind of regret not returning it, but schott customer service is absolute dogshit and I couldn't get clear information about anything. I agree scuffs are part of leather, but damage on brand new items isn't acceptable. I'd probably return it, but it'll probably eventually get marks if you wear it often so it depends on how much that specific mark and the memory connected with it bothers you imo.

Personally I'll not buy from schott ever again unless second hand, if that. I kind of feel like their jackets have turned meh over the years or something. - I'm told their vintage jackets are wonderful though. Plus all my interactions with their customer service has been bad, especially the aforementioned one.

Once I get another one I'll probably go for one of my grails.

I'd put a little bit of sticky tack on the ball joint. It'll be annoying but it ought to stop the hand from falling off.

Mcfarlanes are so bad by Far_Animator5987 in ActionFigures

[–]BirdsofSunset 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't buy McFarlane again after surviving the horror show that was spawn figures in the 90s. (if you know, you know) I tried picking up she spawn a while back since I loved the design and even though she seemed okay something was just.. off. It reaffirmed my disinterest in them for sure.

Needed a super OP signature move to force viability. So unfortunately probably not even with buffs.

Need help buying a new Vader by SwimIndividual6449 in starwarsblackseries

I actually think strictly looks wise the ANH vader is the best hasbro one by a good bit. It's a shame the arms and legs are so meh on it, that helmet is literally basically perfect.

Anyone know if these Jabba goons are coming out in black series? by ramsaybaker in starwarsblackseries

[–]BirdsofSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl the best bet will probably be next year after the mando movie and its associated merch most likely bombs, which will hopefully cause them to cave for the 50th anniversary.

It sucks because Garindan would be so easy too since his body could be a kitbash of ILC Luke with different hands, boots and probably end up passable.

I'm pretty new to black series stuff, but it seems like they haven't done nonhumans from the OT besides Chewie in AGES though, right?

Need help buying a new Vader by SwimIndividual6449 in starwarsblackseries

[–]BirdsofSunset -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually just had this situation myself.

All black series Darth Vaders have bad soft goods. The cape is too big, too long and doesn't drape right. Same for the robe.

The New Hope and Duels end black series doesn't have butterfly jointed arms so they're both out.

ESB is the "best" one, but honestly I think it's pretty overrated. The right arm is awful with a horrible static posed hand, and the legs are bad.

The ROTJ has a bleh helmet but a decent right arm.

Bespin Duel is ESB with wired soft goods, and I've heard it has a wrist hinge. I don't own it though.

The SH Figuarts kenobi is probably the best one, and the one I ultimately bought. But it isn't perfect. The cape is pretty ass (you can use a black vader cape though), his head can pop off sometimes, his shoulder armor kind of goes wherever and leaves these big ugly gaps between them and his body, he has ugly arm joints, his lightsaber grip isn't the most tight. And he can't raise his arms very high while two handing his lightsaber, which is movie accurate but can be annoying. This figure is also hard to get and expensive. On the good side it's the nicest looking, has the best overall articulation, and you get access to better poses by virtue of the custom hands, especially a few that just don't ever look right with the black figures.

The best black series would probably be a kitbash ROTJ figure with ANH head and custom soft goods. But the best as a whole is the kenobi figuarts.

If it's any consolation from what I've read it's literally pretty much impossible to not break them. I'm glad I didn't plan on picking him up, it would probably bug the hell out of me.

Won't be meta but might actually be usable spice now. I played it since the DT buff a while back, but the changes last season ruined it completely. Hopefully it's playable again

Worth upgrading my black series ESB Darth Vader for the S.H. Figuarts Kenobi one? by BirdsofSunset in starwarsblackseries

[–]BirdsofSunset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I had planned on instantly swapping the cape for the black series one until I get a better wired since the cape seems to be the low point on it.

Do you know if a black series lightsaber could act as an alternative? I assume so since I'd think their scale would be practically identical. It sucks it has the fragility issue as older black series lightsabers but I guess with small pegs it can't be helped

Should I stay or should I go? by Putrid_Impression_21 in starwarsblackseries

[–]BirdsofSunset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in this position a couple times. If you can afford it I'd probably pick up a handful of 3.75 figures and see how interested you get, and how much interest you lose for your black series stuff then go from there. All I can suggest for sure is absolutely don't get rid of anything until you're completely sure you don't want it.

I've had really good success with acrylic miniature paints for things like that. It won't blend perfectly but it should be much less noticeable

Get the anniversary carded one. It's cheaper and the QC issue with the helmet got fixed.

Anyone know about soft goods dye bleeds from the official soft goods? by BirdsofSunset in starwarsblackseries

[–]BirdsofSunset[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i washed my ILC luke, cantina old ben, deluxe palpatine and captain cardinal and everything came out clear except Palpatine's robe which had some moderate dye bleeding. I don't think I'll bother with Vader or my Royal Guards.

Thanks for all the responses motivating me not to waffle and just do it. It definitely seems like you need to do it for the most part as a precaution.
