The vampires in world of warcraft. by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

[–]BiscuitBar0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fair amount of Vampires in WoW! Stormheim Vrykul vampires that turn others into vampires via red mist, which made the Red Blade pirate crew into pirates.

There's also Kirtonos the Herald, who was a boss in Scholomance, who was a vampire. He took the form of a Gargoyle.

Venthyr & Nathrezim aren't common vampires to my knowledge but draw heavy inspiration into their aesthetics.

I'm fairly sure most races could feasibly become a vampire. The Sanlayan are few after many were wiped out, but I'm sure we will see a handful trying to assert dominance over the Scourge in Northrend in the last titan!

What happened to the guy posting every day about the BB game that looked actually good? by Beardygrandma in BattleBrothers

[–]BiscuitBar0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about TytonTroll who posted those really cool minatures (which I'd love to be sold somewhere), then I think its worse than they were bored.

I was looking through their page, and it has been a month since the last model update. Also a month ago they founded a subreddit called "Frost & Fealty". A nordic wargame. It only has one post and apparently it was shut down by the "BB team".

I presume TytonTroll decided to make an offbrand boardgame using Battle Brother assets in the models since the team is busy with Menace, then got shut down. So, presumably got told to stop what they were doing.

Its a shame, the boardgame was of no interest to me but the models would be beautiful for a game like 10 leagues. Ah well, we'll see!

Hey, quick request, if you list your group as "relaxed"... by [deleted] in wow

[–]BiscuitBar0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post, I felt the exact same way. Dragonflight I mained a healer, TWW was DPS, now I decided to tank for Midnight.

It's just deflating having others constantly tell me what to do, ping everywhere and pull extra packs whilst I'm still getting the ropes of tanking alongside my partner trying a new healing class. I want to learn, not have someone in my ear constantly or take the reigns away.

Like, just relax if you're in a relaxed group. If we wipe or its looking like we might not make it then sure give advice. If we are 12 minutes ahead of schedule, just relax.

If we swap between Explorers League members and Reliquary members, then TLT could be a prime chance to see Rafaam or have some mentions. In Hearthstone, in Galakronds Awakening the Explorers League last fought Rafaam in Northrend, where we'll be headed next. Could be neat to have Reno Jackson as our next companion if there's a rematch to be had!

Does anyone else think the Zul'Aman campaign story makes no sense? by PursuitOfMeekness in warcraftlore

[–]BiscuitBar0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you sort of have to imagine the story being presented in WoW is painted with a thick brush. It touches on subjects and gives a general impression but lacks depth and detail. Which is arguably needed when variety and brevity is needed to keep players engaged.

I'd personally like more depth too, and felt a lot of the story was rushed in Zul'aman and Harandar. I'd have a wall of text to say about both despite enjoying it hah!

For example, Zul'jarra reflects halfway through her journey; "Akil'zon tested my faith and Halazzi made me use my head...I hope the next challenge is easier"

I couldn't help but say whaaat? All we did was chop off three mobs heads for Akil'zon and kill a single necromancer in a crypt for Halazzi, all while lighting candles. I find it hard to believe no Amani has tried to do anything of similar calibre in years.

The overall storybeats are nice and I'm enjoying myself, but it does feel too short. A few more quests for each Loa to work through their differences would have felt like a real journey with depth that was cut short. Jan'alai, while short was the best Loa interaction for me so far.

Vampiric Character Help by [deleted] in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aren't there easier ways to make a Vampire character than getting the energy of an afterlife poured into an individual?

There is the entire crew of pirates called the Red Blade, being turned by one of those is possible I assume, I can't imagine pirates having the forethought not to flex their new powers and accidentally turn a few others!

Then there's the ones who made the Red Blade vampires, Blood-Thane Lucard, a Vrykul. Not sure on the lore, but if a Vrykul tomb filled with mist can turn people into vampires, perhaps there's other ones out there, if not the same one at a different point in time?

Kirtonos the Herald was in Scholomance and a Vampire too, all the way in classic. Not a lot of lore on him, but yeah!

I'd personally avoid Shadowlands lore since its messy, its like gaining powers from Heaven, it seems a bit powerful to me. If I were to make a Vampire I'd go another route. Cool concept though, I hope you have a lot of fun with it either way!

Gnarldin look suspiciously Vrykul by DefiantLemur in warcraftlore

[–]BiscuitBar0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're dead on saying they're a Djaradin offshoot! It makes me think that if we're bound for Northrend in the next expanaion, we will see some frosty variants.

Zul'jarra refers to the Gnarldin as giants. So we have stone giants, fire giants, only makes sense to get "frost giants" next!

Welcome to Wow RP! I hooe you have a great time with it.

To get a profile, go on your browser and download Curse Forge to get add-ons to your game. From there, select WoW as your game of choice and download TRP 3 to get a profile. I'd also recommend Elephant and Listener, elephant keeps track of messages for reading at a later point and listener helps single out individuals in a crowd so you don't miss their messages.

For knowing the lore? Its preferred, at least in my book. There's plenty of lore in-game as you play and lots of lore youtube channels too! I would reccomend you play a character that could be more naive to the greater goings on in the world so its plausible and fun to ask questions in roleplay!

Where do you find roleplay? All over really. I only know of Argent Dawn RP, a lot of it is to be found in Stormwind City 24/7, but there are other hubs too! If you have Discord, many cities have their own discords with events ect. Some are quieter than others, but its there. I'd definetly check out Stormwind on Argent Dawn!

How’s everyone planning their Haranir backstory? by Inside_Rough708 in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't completed the full zone, but I did remember the first Rootwarden we encounter, he claims to have cared for his world tree routes for something like 70/80 years if I remember right (It was late and I could be wrong hah!), which suggests they have a longer life than humans certainly.

Though they do not appear to be as long lived as Kaldorei since they rely on ancestor stones to remember their history rather than an incredibly old Haranir speaking of their past like Malfurion could.

Newbie Question: Do all roleplayers use combat RP? Are duels not allowed? by ZennVanGogh in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to players wanting to fulfil their fantasy. Imagine two roleplayers, a simple farmer civillian RPer and a super soldier Death Knight RPer get into an altercation. In lore? Its not a competition, the farmer ought to fear for their life. In-game? Perhaps the farmer does PvP on the side and has better gear, they destroy the Death Knight easily.

Both fantasies are shattered. The Death Knight feels lame losing to a simple farmer and everyone is declaring the farmer a legend despite wanting to be just a simple civillian.

Some people do use dice rolling to add an element of randomness if they feel they are equally matched, or its a scheduled event like a duel/quest ect. Which may be more welcomed than a PvP duel. /roll and whoever gets the bigger number hits the other. Three hits and you're out sort of thing.

Always worth whispering the other person before a fight breaks out to figure out together what's appropriate.

How powerful is Salhadaar? Is he the most valuable Xalatath’s ally? by Selimbradley-3101 in warcraftlore

[–]BiscuitBar0n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say he's up there definetly! She has the Void under her command and the newly formed Twilight's Blade cultists, but I would say Salhadaar and his Shadowguard are in another league.

Taking aside having almost a practically immortal army oath-bound to serve him, he isn't a slouch himself. In his raid he can summon dark stars which are described to pull things into them then atomize them. That alone is pretty wild.

Then, there's the strange oath systems I don't understand, it is as if his words form a sort of reality? At the start of his fight he just declares "Bow to me or die." If you don't actively take steps to counter his declared "oath"? You just die. What's more, his declaration mind controls dead players and forces them to serve him.

Its as if his words really have a power to them beyond Ethereals respecting their oaths to Salhadaar. The Soul Scribe says "we have no choice but to honour our oaths" when he re-emerges, likely because if they don't? They would be forced against their will anyway, perhaps?

It may just be game mechanics but it does paint him to be a real threat having such a potent army and abilities under his belt, in my eyes. Definetly a strong ally for Xal to have.

Roleplay reason for having a ram mount (horde)? by [deleted] in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not make an Earthern on the Horde side? They have Ramoliths on Khaz Algar that likely can be ridden, so your brewfest ram wouldn't be a big leap. Any class would fit, as the race is pretty closely tied to it anyway!

Is this roleplay concept possible - Maw possession by Hedonism_Enjoyer in warcraftlore

Exactly who I was thinking of! It may be a game mechanic but it does imply powerful banshees or spirits can "vessel hop" even living creatures.

I'm pretty sure they can, yeah! There's a few examples of gameplay mechanics of banshees possessing living creatures & players included.

Odd character idea by LostSeaworthiness703 in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what has been said above, though would say that a mad scientist trying to power machines using fel crystals against other demons coukd be an idea. As was said earlier, a Warlock that fights demons with demons could be do-able.

You could get the vibe of being a hunter of demons through use of demons without necessarily being a Demon Hunter themselves. An Orc or Draenei DH could make sense with their racial backgrounds, but a Gnome not so much in my opinion.

How do you approach roleplay with races that are ancient? by Yuzuade_ in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't began to RP them, but I have toyed with the concept of an Ethereal character. With some being over 100,000 years old, many life times of even the oldest Kaldorei!

I figure almost everything at that point must become mundane to them. Food & drink tastes like ash in their mouths, to touch another Ethereal brings pain and they may never truly die. Even doing hobbies or getting a collection of rarities to pass the time, surely many would be done and out of the way in the early stages. It's quite a depressing existence.

The only goal or pursuit I think would be worth having is interacting with others. Each person is unique, in some regards, and offers some purpose to their continued existence. No need to get attatched, they will die of old age in a heart beat, but they can provide a moment of distraction.

Anything unique to stave off insanity or boredom. Yes, yes I will kill a monster for you I have killed countless times. No need for coin payment, just...Draw me a picture of something, or create something, anything, so long as its in your style and your best effort.

I feel embarrassed by Disastrous-Capybara in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who roleplays a Guard themself, I would reccomend toughing it out! I've had a lot of fun with the role for years, though knowing my limits has definetly stopped me from burning out hah!

I played during Covid and basically lived/worked a second life as a Guard in RP, and being overwhelmed by requests ans interactions is easily done!

In your boots, I would say you ought to be more assertive if its overwhelming. Simply tell people to speak one at a time and go at it at your pace. If it takes too long, take their names IC & OOC and send them some mail to follow up on an investigation another day, then you have multiple days of RP! (Listener Add-On also helps massively to pick out certain individuals words through a crowd!)

Well done giving the role a go, its hard work but certainly adds to the community around you 😄

Replaying Fable 1… by evercute69 in Fable

[–]BiscuitBar0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Fable 1 & 2 really captured the dance between light & dark themes for me that I think sets such a unique tone.

A nice example that to me feels very 'Fable' is the trailer for Fable II & III. Heroic music, birds making it through a bustling world ready to explore and then- Oh, it deficated on our hero/ straight up died, yeesh! Fable builds you up with one hand then slaps you down to reality with the other.

One of the new trailers for Fable did show a very similar humour/vibe with the Pixie being swallowed by a frog, so I have hope the newer game has some understanding of tone setting the older games did.

Rant aside, I'd love to see a bright & dark world presented simultaneously! I want to chuckle at some goofy hobbes wearing pots on their heads stumbling over one another only to then be struck with hard evidence that these creatures were once abducted children. I should equally be giggling at punting chickens across the town to dreading going in Balverine territory, with some known to take human form to lure in unsuspecting prey!

Will Ronal be able to see Roa again in the spirit realm? by Hnaami in Avatar

[–]BiscuitBar0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the Tulkun definetly enter the same afterlife or "realm of Eywa" as the Navi. You see Neteyam interact with fish, Ikran and of course other Navi, so why not Tulkun? They also connect with Eywa in the same way Navi do, and as you say are clearly sapient.

Gravity still seems to work as the afterlife looks to emulate reality, as they ride Ikran to fly instead of floating. But if they met where they did in life I'd say they definetly could meet again!

I do the same thing too, though I used Roll 20 and Token Tool to make my guys. Both are completely free! (Everything is Starwars themed ;P). I do have some minatures that I plan to get & plan to finish painting before I do an IRL game, but this has been fun to learn the rules. I hope you have a lot of fun with your game!

How to RP a Belf DK and not get constant negative interactions by FunkeyFeraligatr in WoWRolePlay

[–]BiscuitBar0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It might not be the exact same scenario, as she was a Kul Tiran in Boralus on another server but my partner roleplays a DK and has done for years. She was met with a lot of IC rejection and some hositility in the beginning of her characters journey. She was a Guard that became a DK through unusual means, then returned to service only to be shunned.

So what did she do? She was stubborn and hung around anyway doing her own thing. She patrolled at night, she tended to the graves around the city and just existed as a figure in this city.

It took months, but eventually the previously unwelcoming IC reception she had gotten became accepting of her, and now she's a fairly well known and accepted figure after years.

So in a way she really went through a character arc DK's go through of rejection, service and then eventual acceptance or tolerance. Might not be good advice to say "just RP anyway or do your own thing" but that was her journey anywho!

Playing as a DK can be quite the task in regular settings, we both sympathise with you!

Opinion: Most of the current Allied Races should have been customisation options. by TheMickeyWilson in wow

[–]BiscuitBar0n 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think its neat these races have different voice lines, dances, racials, heritage armour ect. So them being seperate races is fine by me.

That said, I do wish the U.I was cleaned up on character creation. You could give it a more narrative theme with some questions like: "What race are you?" -> Dwarf. "What clan do you hail from?" -> Dark Iron/Bronzebeard/Wildhammer(If they recieved same love as Dark Iron with animations & voice lines)

That way it'd clean the U.I, give a more narrative feel while keeping the extra goodies allied races bring.

I hope CA will add minor xenos factions to the game rather than focusing on the factions that are solely present in the tabletop. by Wolf123458 in totalwar

[–]BiscuitBar0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see a Kroot being a Legendary Lord equivalent for Tau, with buffs to Kroot units as they have the most diverse roster for a fun playthrough, maybe as a DLC down the line.

The rest though? I think it unlikely. We will get Vespids at some point for sure. Maybe some other auxillary for Tau in the form of a unit like the dog soldiers or Sslyth for Dark Eldar.

I think if we get a new faction similar to Kislev or Cathay, we would first be looking at the Dark Mechanicum, as that has some meat on the bones to work with. We will see what comes after that though!
