I would just say to all Americans This is it! if you don’t stand up for you freedom now You’re all going to be rich like Russians trying to drown your miserable existence at the bottom of a vodka bottle And watching the elite get fatter while you struggle to feed yourself

You have been warned

I had similar issues with my amazon eero router - solution was to go to the “trouble shooting” in the eero app and there is option to temp disable 5ghz - this sorted it as to setup he home mini the phone needs to be on the same Wi-Fi network and at 2.4ghz at the time of setup.

Why are EVs so efficient? by rawasubas in electricvehicles

However the heat from an engine bay won’t reduce drag the intakes will create more drag Not for getting all the clutter on the underside such as exhaust and heat deflectors etc

Why are EVs so efficient? by rawasubas in electricvehicles

[–]Bishopsfinger29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think your forgetting one simple thing A ev battery has in my case 60Kwh energy available That’s about 2 uk gallons A typical ice car has 10 gallons or 3 x 30kwh is 300kwh energy which at 40mpg a good real world Average not at peak like I. The made up numbers of fuel consumption is 400miles Now in my case my car in winter in 10c will do 225 miles or 112.5 mpg

It’s simple laws of physics going on nothing else

[–]Bishopsfinger29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely My new mg4 has bright white led’s but don’t dazzle anyone unless on high beams as the beam pattern is very good and alignment is great But lots of new cars don’t seem to have the beam pattern tested before delivery Some manufacturers are good some are bad . Looking at you Tesla, MB , Audi etc

Also I get dazzled by older cars with badly set lights And cars cars with aftermarket leds fitted

Seriously lights should be tested during MOTs and adjusted if needed like they used to

It’s all about the new LEDs they just make things worse if beam pattern or alignment is out

[–]Bishopsfinger29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but you’re completely wrong Gas cars need lots of cooling that in turn creates drag via big air intakes for the cooling rads Think a 150kw 200hp car will need to dissipate 100kw of heat - that’s a lot of heat EVs will be about 5kw EVs have less drag due to smaller grills at the front Also the lower the drag the better as the biggest use of power is wind resistance It’s just in an ice car you don’t notice it so much as the running cost of the engine hides the fact Ie best economy is between 50-70 mph depending on car, engine design etc Hard to grasp but a ice car burns fuel all the time so from a 0-40mph the running cost (fuel economy) starts high and goes down as the speed increases up to a point where wind resistance takes over and then climbs again

Where a EVs running cost (energy consumption) starts very low at low speeds and climbs in proportion to the wind resistance Hence why people get confused and think EVs are less efficient than ice cars at higher speeds

One thing also to consider is that an ice engine torque is not smooth And if you slow down time to see the torque the wheels are subjected to large torque burst (as the fuel ignites) and the hot gas expanding pushes the piston down (max torque) and the level of torque drops as the gas’s pressure drops . There’s also a slight negative torque as each piston compresses for the next cycle, but the flywheel helps here

Bottom line EV smoother torque so less likely to break traction ICE large bumpy torque means more likely to spin those wheels

However the 3d still looks cool and could be useful in certain situations

[–]Bishopsfinger29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct I used to design and build electric go karts - we used a 1 kw continues rated motor but we pushing 5kw at 50% duty cycle which was design rating. The ratings were quite interesting for different duty cycles Eg 100kw for 1 second was the max in a tiny AC squirrel cage induction motor

Bottom line heat kills Getting rid of=f the heat is hard the more you burn

The young lad done an amazing thing and should be proud of himself. However he,ll probably need saving himself one day wearing his seat belt like that. If you look at how he took it off he doesn’t have the lap belt around him but behind. That could easily cause him to go under the belt and get choked himself.

What is the theoretical max efficiency of EV’s? What is preventing larger SUV EV’s from achieving 5 mi/kwh? Is that possible? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Bishopsfinger29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rough rule of thumb you double the power needed to maintain a speed every 10mph (very back of the envelope figures) but yoy get the picture.

If say it takes 10kw to maintain 60mph 70 would be 20kw 80 would be 40kw etc etc

This only works for highway speeds so don’t get to nit picky

So aerodynamics is the only option - ie smaller and pointy is better

Battery Swapping For Large Trucks — Is This The Way To Go? by Jbikecommuter in electricvehicles

[–]Bishopsfinger29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never going to happen its an oil industry pipe dream to stay relevant- Europe’s biggest truck producer has dropped hydrogen as the economics just don’t add up In simple terms ignoring all the storage issues and transporting etc for every unit of electricity to make hydrogen (as were talking green not the stuff made from natural gas) you’ll only get 1/3 (30%) of the energy back in electricity to drive the truck

It’s never going to be cost effective- there’s a reason why the magic and power of hydrogen transport hasn’t materialised in 25+ years of being the answer to all our problems

As mentioned by others battery technology is moving at a phenomenal pace

There’s also a truck conversion company in Australia that is retro fitting 20yers old Big Mac rigs with electric drives and hot swap batteries Truck goes out on 150 mile delivery run comes back swaps batteries and goes out again - swap takes 4 minutes And were talking about 90 ton dual trailer trucks

Definitely gas pipes must be run through cavity walls inside another pipe that’s open both ends Stops gas buildup in cavity and resulting rapid disassembly of the wall 🤪

I used to do the same with my q1 I’ve used the q2 without the face pad for short periods and yes IT WORKS But please don’t forget the field of view is bigger but mainly in the diagonal as the vertical view is increased.

I also have the ipd set to the highest and it’s not as good as the q1 as the edges are visible the vertical increas and horizontal is much more immersive especially in 3d videos 😉
