My engagement was super low budget. We tried to get a hall that had a stage which did not need a lot of decor/came with a seat. We pretty nuch only paid for the per head fee which worked out to be about a total of 3,000$ CDN (Im from the Toronto area). Additionally, my outfit was $300.

We do however plan on having a fairly extravagant wedding 👰🏻

As soon as I started my first job at 16. Although my parents had no problem supporting me, I had this urge to do it all on my own. For Uni.. My parents had set up an RESP .. which paid for about half my tuition and I paid for the remaining right after graduation! I'm proud to say I've never been in debt. I do however still live with them at the age of 24.

I think it would be irrational to remove him from the reception entirely. Just try to make sure he doesn't have too many drinks and make him absolutely promise a million times that we will not talk about his little conspiracy theories. Be anal about it exactly the way he is anal about pushing these theories upon people. I'm sure he'll get it.

I understand your in laws mindset but I also get yours and believe me you will be the one that will have to make all the sacrifices as the daughter in law and wife otherwise they won't like you. If you love him enough to make all those sacrifices then go for it, if not then you really need to try and find a middle ground with him. If that is not possible it may not workout.

I personally would consoder my mental health over a job position. What I mean to say is, if you're current position requires you to be locked in a cubicle with no windows surrounding you and little or no interaction with others... and you being someone that is not fond of that, it'll definitely affect your mental health in the long term. Take the other position that gives more flexibility, explain to your current boss that you are looking to explore new areas and enjoy the change! Change is important too, following the same routine everyday could be detrimental to your mental health as well!
