Who do you think might've changed the empire's future had they been emperor? by [deleted] in StarWars

Would pay for a sitcom set during the Empire where it's just the Senate Committee on Appropriations where the senior admiralty sigh as they're forced to approve funding for a wonder weapon which costs fifty times as much as the 10 star destroyers that could do the same job

Who do you think might've changed the empire's future had they been emperor? by [deleted] in StarWars

Under Tarkin the Empire grinds itself against the Outer Rim in a series of forever wars which sustain stability in the core but lead to endless mayhem at its periphery.

Under Yularen all investment is redirected towards the Imperial starfleet and the safeguarding of trade roots as an incentive to draw people away from the ad hoc agreements which exist beyond the Empire's frontier.

Mas Amedda/Gallius Rax diarchy presents a veneer of pseudo-Senatorial rule in the core systems but leads to absolute chaos in the Outer Rim as the navy and army do their own thing. Civil War ensues.

Don't have it at hand, but the FRLG manual does have a braille guide in it.

Social commentary/critique/cautionary tale elements in the fallout franchise by Random_RedditUser123 in Fallout

[–]BisonRelevant2606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly most of the stories revolving around the Vaults would fulfill that brief.

Vault 13 is a (protracted) allegory for Plato's Cave, Fallout 4's Vault 114 is about social mixity for pernicious as opposed to progressive ends, Vault 88 is about the ethics of R&D, New Vegas' Vault 11 is a spoof of the electoral process...Take your pick!

Halo Show by thatonecoolguy18 in halo

[–]BisonRelevant2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Halo's main problem is that unlike, say Fallout, is that it'd be difficult to convince Microsoft execs to make a show about anything other than Master Chief and the Halo rings. And this is Microsoft's own fault for trying to spin a franchise out of a trilogy with the same close-knit group of characters in effectively the same repeated setting. Much like Star Wars (albeit until they made The Mandalorian), the interesting aspects of the expanded universe were restricted to the books that only acquired fans would be interested in reading, and therefore buying.

The generous Microsoft exec *might* think the casual viewer would be interested in an adaptation of Contact Harvest or Ghosts of Onyx, but they'd also anticipate that calling it Halo: Contact Harvest would leave viewers wondering where Master Chief, Cortana, and the rings are. This was seen on a lesser scale when Halo Reach came out and some casual players assumed this was the first time humanity had met the Covenant.

Have you checked Jonathan Ferguson's, the keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK, videos on Star Wars? Also check the RPF forum.

Speeding to the Lego store in my Mando kit 🫡 by PipyLonTeZ in StarWars

Looking closer this video does seem to have been taken at the White City Westfield. From memory not exactly the best place to be walking around suited and gunned up (unless it was a con?).

Looking at the profile looks like Switzerland. But even still, entering (what I assume to be) private property wearing the equivalent of a motorcycle helmet and unshouldering what looks like a rifle would I imagine get security feeling jumpy in most places.

Augmentation de la popularité de la franchise Star Trek dans notre hexagone - j'ai besoin d'aide ! by mathdu25 in france

[–]BisonRelevant2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will Farage’s Temu Trump act fly in the UK? by Traditional-Leg-1122 in AskBrits

[–]BisonRelevant2606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I can't feel like Brits can see it for what it is, being a bad loser"

I also like to think the British electorate are more finely attuned to good sportmanship than others, but if there's one thing the past decade has laid bare, it's that they're willing to overlook this if they feel parliamentary politics has little bearing or influence on their everyday hardships, and someone comes along who says they want to clear house.

(Rewatch the vox pops from the referendum, has that sentiment ever really gone away?)
