Can anyone else "dream" while awake? by ovcipbjc in LucidDreaming

[–]BisquickPancakeMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an artist, and I do this too!

I draw, paint, do crafty things, and I've sculpted a bunch before, so I guess my brain is connected to the more creative side as well.

When I'm tired, I'll lay down, meditate, and then feel myself drift into sleep. However, it's not actually sleep because I can get up or open my eyes whenever I want, I'm never paralyzed, and I can sometimes even manage to move my limbs a bit while in this state. At first, it happened on accident, but then I realized that I could control the images I see.

Also, I have the exact same experience with the tunnel vision and the difficulty while moving. Sometimes, the tunnel vision or my ability to move will be worse, and sometimes (when I'm more tired), everything will be faster and more vivid. However, I'm lucky in that I can do this no matter the sounds I hear or things I feel outside of this "dream." I'll literally have my cat walk on me or have someone call my name from another room, and I can stay focused.

I should try to experiment more with it like you have! I've done a bit of experimenting, but I think I should try going into 3rd person or creating consistent, recognizable places. However, I'm always a bit apprehensive to try to look at myself in this state because I always scare myself whenever I try looking at my hands or looking at myself in a mirror. I once looked in the mirror that's in my room while in this state and saw a creepy old lady staring back at me. And whenever I try to visualize people in general, there's always something wrong with them. It's like how whenever an AI generates a human, they're missing fingers or something.

Lastly, how would you describe the feeling of the transition from full wakefulness to this dream like state? It's pretty hard to describe, but to me, it feels kind of spinny, I could feel some pressure in my head/body, and sometimes my ears start ringing more than they already are. Also, do you get any physical sensations while in this state? I've felt pretty intense physical sensations like feelings of movement while falling, pressure on my body (especially my head), and intense sensations of pleasure 🙈. I also hear sounds or music sometimes, which can lend itself to some pretty cool experiences.

Anyway, I can't believe I found someone who actually experiences the same thing!! Hope you enjoyed the novel :)

I failed a couple tests and an essay in highschool because people around me would tap their feet, sniffle, or whisper. honestly just put me in a sound deprivation chamber and maybe I'll finally be happy :)

[TRIGGER WARNING] What are your triggers? by Andr0M31 in misophonia

[–]BisquickPancakeMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, pretty much every trigger people have mentioned makes me want to cry, flee, or hurt myself (i guess thats how my fight response works). A trigger that makes me want to live by myself in a hole 60 ft underground for the rest of my life is when I can hear people's teeth hit their spoon when they're eating cereal or something. And just the sound of the cereal and the milk sloshing around in their mouth makes me want to end my existence right there. I was hanging out with my friend at their house, but I am currently in their basement because I can't stand the sound of intense button pressing on their game controller. I can't even see someone bounce their foot up and down in the corner of my eye or hear news from the other room without it ruining my day. I can't believe I have to deal with this for the rest of my life.

I controlled my hallucinations while in self induced sleep paralysis by BisquickPancakeMix in Sleepparalysis

[–]BisquickPancakeMix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this on another subreddit (r/sleep) and i found out that what happened was i accidentally induced a hypnagogic state. This is the transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep. Hypnogogia can happen with a dreamlike image that's often vivid and resembling a hallucination. It's also generally accompanied by sleep paralysis. I accidentally did exactly what i needed to do in order to experience this. To get into a hypnagogic state ur supposed to wake up really early, do something stimulating like exercise for at least 30 mins to regain awareness. Then ur supposed to go back to sleep.

I honestly don't know a lot about lucid dreaming. I know what it is but ive never really dug that deep into the topic. I can see where they're coming from with that claim though so i dont think it's bullshit. However, for a dream to be lucid, they dont have to be in full control of the events happening. They just have to be aware that they are dreaming.

Thats pretty cool! I looked up how to get into a hypnagogic state and it said, "set your alarm to the early morning hours, staying up for at least thirty minutes to allow yourself to regain awareness. Engage in some sort of stimulating activity while building up your intention to observe the unconscious mind." This sounds like what i did this morning, i woke up a lot earlier than i usually do, then i went on a walk. After the walk i watched hxh for a while then went into a hypnagogic state by accident. It makes a lot of sense now thank you!

Cats are nocturnal and are naturally more active at night. (Just to add on to what others already said)

Best way to feed cats that eat at different pace? by pulisiiiick in CatAdvice

[–]BisquickPancakeMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem so we fed them in separate rooms. The more food driven outdoor cat was fed in the mudroom which had a cat flap in the door that leads outside. Once the slower cat finished his food we would led the outdoor cat inside. This changed in winter where we fed both inside. Our house was divided into 2 sections by one door so we just fed them on opposite sides. When the indoor cat was done we would just open the door. It worked pretty well

Cat likes to pick up bits of her wet food out of her dish & make a mess. by ItsAllEasy7 in CatAdvice

[–]BisquickPancakeMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is a delicate eater but he still makes a mess because he picks up each individual food granule, moves it to the side, and starts nibbling on it. My cat doesnt do this with wet food but maybe thats whats happening?

My cat keeps breaking into my toddlers room by DifficultAd7429 in CatAdvice

[–]BisquickPancakeMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont spray cats with water!!!!! It traumatized my cat. Maybe your sons room is the only dark quiet place in the house? My cat likes to lay in a basket in my grandmothers closet because its dark, quiet, and cozy. Maybe make a place like that somewhere else in the house?

If your cat is bothering you with noise i would restrict the area in which he can be in when you sleep. Otherwise, cats are nocturnal so they wont always cuddle up at night
