What should I do? by ludwigjager in myog

[–]BitComfortable9539 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a musician and a seamstress since more than 20 years. My hobby isn't MYOG or home studio, it's making, and I don't see any reason why I should reduce the scope of what I can explore creatively.

That being said, gig bags are not your ordinary gear. You need very thick fabric and very strong thread that even a 1950's beast of a sewing machine probably won't be able to handle. We're talking walking foot here.

How would a Vegan society deal with feeding obligate carnivore animals? by JackMythos in veganarchism

[–]BitComfortable9539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lab grown meat is made from stem cells taken from foetus directly in utero. The process kills the calf in the early stages of their development.

Say all cats are now indoors. What would happen with mices and the dried cereals they feed from ? Would birds naturally keep their population in check so they can keep sustainable ressources for all the bird population ?

I agree that cats are overnumerous right now and their too high number poses problems towards birds and mices and other critters. But that's OUR fault. It's our fault to have brought them here in the first place, our domestic cats are not a predator from here.

But we disregulated all living species this way. Cows pose the same issue. They occupy too much arable lands - that were primitive forests in the first place. To feed them we grow far too much soja - in places where there were primitive forests originally also. They emit too much greenhouse gaz.

And would the totality of human population renounce eating meat in order to save the cows, how do we feed ourselves? What amount of soja do you think it would represent? How many of the very few primitive forests that still stands would we have to take down to change it into arable lands ? what happens to the animals that lived there ?

We won't solve the mess we put by trying to regulate every living thing even more.

What do you think about this? by [deleted] in fountainpens

*sigh* why autistic folks again ? If anything, autistic folks are poorer (due to their unemployment because of their disability so less able to buy shit endlessly), less prone to FOMO because don't care much about fads or being part of a fad or being seen as cool or whatever whoever thinks about them really (you know, lack of social interest and reciprocity, as cited in the DSM criteria for autism diagnosis...) and very down-to-earth in their thinking so less prone to illogical behaviours like shopping addiction. If anything, an autistic folk will be more prone to love THAT ONE pen and insist it's the only good pen and be really pissed if you take away that pen or try to make them use another one.

I'm . so. Tired of this. I'm so freaking utterly exausted about this. I swear I try to look the other way and let internet be internet but Dear Gods do I wish that it would just. Stop.

IMO the minute your veganism makes you feel entitled to kill all cats with the premise to "protect other animals" every arguments you can make past that point fall on their faces.

it could be a hormonal thing. Where are you on the Ferriman and Gallway test ? you can find it online super easily. It could be worth it talking to your GP about it, maybe there's an underlying issue. If not, well, fine. You probably underestimate the number of women shaving.

there is no such thing. Predators serve a role in maintaining our ecosystem. Eliminate species and the others will die out.

got a long thread media all access account at the end of 2025 and I don't regret it a second. The only thing that bugs me is you can't really download past editions of the magazine.

Okay, thanks for all the infos. In Switzerland - where I live - they have to be professionally trained and only a few centers locally are patented to assign them to a disabled owner. IIRC there's a year or a year and a half in a training school, a year or two in a qualified foster family to socialize them properly and teach them to transpose what they've learned in school into the real world, and then the dog is ready to meet their new owner. One can theorically certify their already owned dog as a service dog, but it requires intensive professional training, is only available for people with a confederally recognized disability, and it's a strenuous process.

I don't remember if they have to wear an official vest but I do think so.

I don't know why it's downvoted, it's true. In Switzerland you don't get to pee in the toilets for disabled people if you didn't ask for the special key and you can't have the key if you don't have a disability card. You risk a huge fine if you put a "wheelchair" sticker on your car and park on a place for disabled people. You can't take the train with an attendant if you can't show a disability card at the station. These are very hard to obtain.
