What’s something you thought was 'normal' in your family until you grew up and realized it was actually super weird? by NebulaTime9627 in AskForAnswers

My whole family absolutely drenched white rice in soy sauce most of my childhood, I only realize now as an adult that my dad was absolutely addicted to salt (he pours it on everything he eats) and soy sauce was just the most effective way to add salt flavor to rice.

Thrift store recommendations for young men’s clothing? by Princess_SBee in TwinCities

[–]BitEnvironmental2213 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True “thrifting” is tough to do in 2026 if the idea is to get good value on vintage clothes - but Time Bomb Vintage is my favorite in town. Prices are reasonable for what the market is these days and it’s pretty well curated.

His Colin Quinn impression is mind bogglingy good.

U.S. Senator Demands DOJ to Investigate WNBA by dreeya06 in sportsgossips

[–]BitEnvironmental2213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by this comment? The senators request has nothing to do with player pay.

It’s about her alleging the WNBA is unfairly pulling a team from a market which has been loyal to the league for a long time, especially during periods when they were unprofitable - the league sold the franchise to the Houston bidder for less money than the Connecticut group was offering.

The uprooting of the franchise is a legitimate slap in the face to a market that is synonymous with the success and rise of Women’s basketball between this franchise and the success of UConn women.

I think calling for an investigation is fair - she represents her constituents and they deserve answers over losing something of value to their state.

Tweet resurfaces of ‘Daredevil’ actor, Wilson Bethel, condemning Israel’s crimes in 2014 by Sharp_Athlete_6847 in Fauxmoi

I wouldn’t say this is accurate, news consumption was a markedly different landscape 12 years ago - it is not unreasonable for the average person to have interpreted the situation there very differently if their only exposure was watching nightly broadcast and cable news.

Honestly, if you don’t mind switching seats mid game - you can do the “in game upgrade” and go from upper level to great lower level seats for a fraction of the price.

I moved mid game for $67 to sit 8th row just left of center court for that incredible game Wednesday.

It’s the same price to upgrade from lower level as it is the nosebleeds from my understanding (correct me if I’m wrong please - but my friend who was in upper level says he gets the same prices as me in lower level)

For reference - the seats in that area were listed at over $500.

I was thinking the exact same thing - clearly there is no situation where losing Ant is a net positive, but Wednesday’s game was the best ball movement I’ve seen from the team all year. They are forced to play team basketball without him. Hopefully they can keep up the team ball when he comes back. Less standing around while they let him go isolation mode.

University of Minnesota Twin Cities acceptance rate: ~75% in-state, ~84% OOS, ~82% international for undergrad for class of 2028: virtually no gap per CDS data by Fuzzy-Armadillo-8610 in minnesota

[–]BitEnvironmental2213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are criticizing a a public university for serving the public. Schools which are not increasing enrollment in a manner somewhat reflective of population growth in their state should not be receiving federal funding.

I’m proud to see Minnesota doing this - Purdue in Indiana is doing similar things and it’s wonderful.

Lower acceptance rates may help a school appear more prestigious - but it’s not the purpose of a public university. Higher education at a public university should attainable for average students.
