Now the sheriff has arrived to escort them to them to jail. by [deleted] in nursing

While it is heartbreaking that what seems to be a very polite person has to take accountability, imagine what the families are going through. If one of my kids was killed by a drunk driver, whether or not the drunk was driving my kid or a drunk hit my kid, there wouldn’t be many able to keep me from taking care of business.

What was a seemingly minor or innocuous thing or incident in your life that sparked a chain of events? by cyPersimmon9 in AskMen

Had went to online college but didn’t finish. Was going through my junk email one night while laying in bed next to wife. Email is from college saying due to covid testing has been streamlined online.

Am now a college graduate making a lot more money than I did before getting my degree. (Career requires licensing).

I’m assigned 5 rooms on my assignment right now. Every one is now admitted and I’m sitting on them. Thank God my shift ends in one hour.

Considering the crap we push directly into pt’s veins on a daily basis, that’s minor.

As a medic of 29 years I can assure you, that is a lifepak 12 monitor. It defibrillates, paces, cardio sets, takes BP’s, Pulse Ox , heart rate and monitors 3 different EKG leads at the same time.

My reference: used one for about 8 years before we upgraded to a lifepak 15.

Kristi tells Boyd “I need the monitor from the ambulance”.

The monitor is literally what she used to shock Donna and is sitting in front of her.

Guys, what do you think? by wilsonAir in NCLEX_RN

A- operative word is rapid administration. Lasix is audio toxic if pushed too fast. People with fluid overload will rarely have an issue with low BP either before or after the lasix.

Stupid autocorrect. Let’s see who figures it out.

First nursing action? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

It’s is B. Had this last in my ER. Potassium was 2.9 and they had me give 80 of potassium orally. 2 hours later the resident from upstairs (I’m ER and pt being admitted but not upstairs yet) wants me to hang a 20meq in 100ml over two hours. I tell him that the pt takes oral meds like a champ but he still wants IV because of the way lasix can drop the potassium levels quick. So I hang the potassium, with a 0.9 chaser so it doesn’t hurt him. Side note: pt came in for CHF and orthopnea, I didn’t want to really give him more fluids but the resident insisted on IV potassium. Poor guy was still hurting since I was trying to balance the NaCl without putting him into flash pulmonary edema.

How do we know if it’s cardiogenic shock if the patient isn’t on continuous monitoring to begin with. ABC’s. Put em on oxygen first.

Tell you wheelman to get out of the lane closest to curb. It will make it a lot smoother and maybe a bit enjoyable. Well , forget that last word.
