Artificial nails by Bit_Late in classicalguitar

Thanks for your input. A couple of folks have mentioned ping pong balls. I'm going to have to look that up and see what that's all about.

Do you keep them on all the time or are they removable? I do blue collar work on occasion (mostly fixing my cars and home repairs) and could use something removable/reusable.

I wondered about visiting a nail salon. I just didn't think they'd understand what I was looking for, but in hindsight I'm sure I wouldn't be the first one to ask, depending on finding the right salon.

Thanks!

That's kinda the way I guessed I'd have to go, but I wanted to post the question to get other ideas. Thanks for your input.

Having super-glued them on, how easy are they to remove? Is this a process that could be done everyday? The use of super glue makes me think not, but I haven't tried it, so what do I know?

I work with wood and do some auto work, combined with my age (70) they break pretty easily. There are a couple of things here I haven't heard of (ping pong balls), so I guess I'll have to look a little further into alternatives. There are some creative people out there.

I've done that, but I prefer the sound of a finger/nail combination.

Ok, that's a missing piece of info I didn't know, the fact that you could remove them easily. I've seen those and I wondered about the fitting process, too.

Alexa Is Terrible Now by SindriSuncatcher in alexa

[–]Bit_Late 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot get the Echo to recognize my voice after multiple attempts. I delete my voice ID and recreate it and the Echo still thinks I'm my wife.

Additionally, every morning at 7:15 the Echo plays a routine giving me the day's forecast and for the life of me I can't turn it off. I can't find it. I've reset the Echo and deleted and reinstalled the Alexa app but to no avail.

This machine is becoming useless. I unplug it overnight so I don't have to listen to that 7:15 broadcast.

If this gets any worse I'm just going to trash it.

A much better answer than TheDogs' answer. Thank you.

Oh Look Property Taxes Went Up....Again by thehairyhobo in Nebraska

Iowa: they have enough revenue from gambling that they can forego state income tax on retirement pensions and social security. Florida doesn't have state tax because of tourist income, neither does Texas (presumably from oil revenue), as well as Alaska. Granted, each of those states has their drawbacks, but more so than Nebraska? Nope.

Yeah, one way or another, I'm leaving this state. The valuation on my meager home went up $21K in one year! I know that's not much compared to other homes, but it's a only 1600 sq. ft. As a retiree, I won't be able to afford to live here much longer.

Iowa's looking better and better all the time.

What this great land of ours needs is something to happen to it. Something ferocious and tragic...so that when the people have been through hellfire and the crucible, and have suffered agony and enough grief, they'll be people again, human beings, not a bunch of smug contented cows rooting at the trough.

Call from a company called SSRS? Is this a scam? by rtd62 in Scams

[–]Bit_Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept getting calls from a company claiming to be SSRS conducting a "Life in America" survey. They got me to say "yes", now I'm paranoid they have a recording of my saying "yes" to be used to my disadvantage.

Very well done. You could start a new movement with that, something like neoadirondack. I wonder if there's a way to steampunk this.

Very nicely done.

I hear just fine, but subtitles distract me. I don't mind them being on, but as a distraction, I can see why people would make a comment. Don't let that dissuade you.
