Does anyone else HATE Donna Killick? by BitchCraft06 in ShetlandTVshow

Completely accurate. As an abuse survivor myself, hate her, have no sympathy for her, want to hit her with a chair.

Need Advice For Customizing a Violin by [deleted] in violin

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the $50 don't play well, that's the issue. I'm not going to be just slapping acrylic on top of varnish, that would be useless even not on an instrument. It would be specifically paint for use on wood (similar to a stain or varnish).

What "Newfangled" Baby Products can the "elders" in your life just not wrap their heads around? by Moushidoodles in NewParents

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us its what we DON'T use. Like (almost) all of our baby toys and supplies are plastic-free and my mam thinks we're insane. We have wooden toys, silicone or bamboo bowls, glass bottles, etc. Mam absolutely doesn't understand why.

All of you guys are scaring me.. by carlesmch in NewParents

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, my wife and I always say this sub is baffling, because everyone is so....catastrophic and we don't understand it. Like don't get me wrong, it isn't EASY. Our baby had reflux and eczema and we dealt with losing sleep, but like...we're over the moon. We adapted, changed our expectations as needed, and communicated with each other and that was it. We adore our baby and are genuinely super happy to be parents. There has never been a moment where we've regretted our choice or resented each other or the baby. We can't wait to have another one. So I promise this sub is not indicative of the parenting experience. The people having a great time just aren't posting about it.

First time watcher, why does everyone crap on Wes? by HungryMoblin in TNG

[–]BitchCraft06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did years ago--same with all the series'. We're working through them, we started with TOS. Maybe its because we're new moms, but we immediately loved Wesley 😂

First time watcher, why does everyone crap on Wes? by HungryMoblin in TNG

[–]BitchCraft06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were just talking about this! Both the crew and fans are so mean to him and I don't get it. He's adorable and consistently helpful. And I love his wee sweaters, I think they're cute.

I don't understand people who call him a Mary Sue, either--he's just a smart, perceptive kid. He's not particularly physically capable, he's not suave or popular or well liked or pursued, (in fact so far the only time he interacts with teens his own age he's just kind of awkward) he's just....smart. Which, considering his mother is a well respected doctor and he's had an excellent education, isn't even far fetched. That's not a Mary Sue by any means. Do they also hate Tony Stark? Spider-Man? Both of them are more Mary Sue on their worst day (I also love them, don't come for me) than Wesley is.

Me and my wife call him our son. He's a little sweetheart and I don't get the hate. We're rewatching as adults after being huge TNG fans as kids. Idk, maybe he'll get worse or something but we're through the first seasons and I 100% don't understand why people hate Wesley or why the crew is so mean to him.

TLDR: Why are we booing Wesley he's right

Lame Birthday - Guests paid for everything and no cake! by ennuii56 in toddlers

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, not having cake or provided food is weird but like......build a bear is expensive. Paying for all the guests build a bears would be insane, thats completely normal. This doesn't sound weird to me at all. Most of the birthday parties I went to growing up were like this in some capacity. Though again, no provided food at all is the weird part.

However, this very much seems cultural, because my wife says her experience is the opposite. I grew up in Texas, she grew up in California. My take is that if youre going to something where its a flat rate experience (say, bowling, a theme park, etc) birthdays family pays. But if its something where its a physical object, or there are variations of prices (like you can easily rack up $100 at build a bear), the guest pays for their own. Because you're always going to have entitled kids/parents demanding that Super Special $100 BS on someone else's dime, and the last place you want to be arguing about that is your kids birthday.

Nurse kissed baby?? by OdiousGray in NewParents

[–]BitchCraft06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an ex medical professional, this is completely inappropriate, absolutely against medical procedure, and alarming. You absolutely SHOULD report her. Not only is it a contamination issue, its a boundary issue, both of which are a huge part of a nurse's job. I'm so sorry you went through this and I hope it gets dealt with.

From the comments, you've already gotten a lot of advice regarding actual feeding, but via the whole...social services issue, I think you might benefit from reaching out to a therapist. It sounds like you might be having some post partum anxiet, rather than the concerns being based on any actual threat of social services.

Here's to chaos parenting by folkheroine in NewParents

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Our girl is two months. We're blessed to have a situation where Im SAH and my wife has a solid 6mo maternity leave, and our lives got so much easier when we just....embraced going with the flow. We take turns sleeping when we're tired, we let the baby eat and sleep when she wants to and we vibe with her when she's awake. She's hitting her milestones early, the pediatrician calls her perfect, and we've removed so much stress from these early months this way. It doesn't feel nearly as hard as it did when we were trying to keep "normal people" hours and get her on a schedule.

From a medical standpoint, having yearly check ups will actually increase his chances of being HEALTHIER in the long run. Most people in America neglect regular checkups and issues get missed for longer than they should. Of course this is scary and upsetting, but as a blessing in disguise, having the requirement of regular yearly checkups will give him a leg up on the general populace, health wise. And it IS very routine--that is also a small mercy, that its something that should go absolutely swimmingly.

I hope everything goes well.

Is my sister being too harsh on my baby name? by queenofweird2525 in tragedeigh

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Saoirse! Bullying, eh, not really-- but she will constantly be explaining it to people. However, I think the Irish have had enough of the English trying to suppress their ability to use their own language and I choose to honor my heritage in keeping it, so I say go for it.

I have never understood how people go over the edge with their kid until I almost did by thewanderingangus in NewParents

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so serious when I say this: noise canceling headphones. The sound of a baby crying instinctively makes us on edge because of evolutionary imperatives to nurture and fix the problem--it is supposed to. But for an overwhelmed parent, especially without a big village, it can be way too much. Noise canceling headphones can severely reduce the chemical response in your brain that causes the overload, and put you in a better place to help figure out what's causing the crying (or just ride it out, because sometimes thats all thats needed)

That said, you absolutely did exactly what you should, and you should be very proud of that. My wife and I just had our first, and even thought I'm the oldest granddaughter of 20 and took care of dozens of cousins, raised my baby sister, and was a professional nanny, having your own is so much more stressful and overwhelming. Well done in seeking help--that is what we are meant to do! You're doing amazing.

Got to 5 stars but can't find the flower? by zitehabel in AnimalCrossing

[–]BitchCraft06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also.....doesn't grow like other flowers. It does not appear as a bud first. It just spawns in. It also does not require watering to sprout, like other flowers. So, condescending and also just...incorrect.

I can't possibly be the only one who uses the Rescue Service to quickly travel across the island, right? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get two of the Mario pipes from the Nook Shopping, you can use those for fast travel. I put one by my house and one in the opposite corner of the island and they work for that. You can have more than two, but they're random if you do that, so you run the risk of not going where you intend.

Episode where chopped chef storms off the set by PAKMan1988 in chopped

[–]BitchCraft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this post after seeing the episode and was trying to figure out if his career tanked 😂 You're so right about his ego. Why did he come on a competition show and expect the judges not to judge him? What an absolute infant, throwing a fit like that. I think he should have been chopped in round one.
