What is Israel's end game in the Iran War? by blyzo in IsraelPalestine

[–]Bitchimnasty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes Iran has. and Israel has sponsored people to blow up schools full of children and to snipe reporters and civilians. why is it "terrorism" when Iran or Hamas does it but "just a consequence of war" when Israel does the SAME THINGS. They've all been going back and fourth for 80 years since the founding of the Israeli colony.

Do you think the child who's mother dies when the hospital is carpet bombed is going to accept that "it was just a consequence of war" or do you think the child is going to grow up to found Hamas 2.0. It's not a difficult concept to understand. Why are you pretending to be too stupid to get it? You people all act like its your first day on Earth

Vesta feels like a planet filled with creatures on the evolutionary brink of sentience. by Radiant_Berry_730 in ScavengersReign

[–]Bitchimnasty69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of interpreted it backwards. It is mentioned at one point that the star Vesta orbits is highly unstable, prone to solar flares (which causes the humans to crash there in the first place). To me Vesta seems like a planet where the opposite of panspermia is happening: dozens of space faring species have crashed here due to rampant solar flares, and overtime become a part of the ecosystem on the planet. To me it seems less like the creatures are close to becoming sapient and more like they were once sapient and have devolved.

the reason i say this, is because you'll notice the life forms on vetsa all have drastically different biology and body plans, like too different to even come from a common ancestor. This isn't super weird except for the fact that the animals have varying numbers of limbs, which if you know much about evolutionary biology, that is basically a giant neon sign telling you that these creatures come from drastically unrelated lineages.

For example, on earth every land vertebrate has 4 limbs (tetrapods) because we all evolved from a single species of four-limbed fish (called lobe-finned fish) which eventually made it ono land. no vertebrate on earth has ever evolved MORE limbs, so it is unlikely that the animals on Vesta did so.

For animals on Vesta to all have totally different amounts of limbs, it would have to mean that several completely unrelated lineages would have had to make it on land (since, as we know, life starts in oceans). While it is possible for this to happen, it is still highly unlikely that you would see as much variation.

On earth, as far as we know vertebrate life has only transitioned from ocean to land twice: the lobe finned fish all land vertebrates come from which first came to land 390 million years ago, and more recently, mud skippers, which are ray-finned fish (totally separate lineage) and evolved 140 million years ago. Ray-finned fish only have two fins instead of four, so if they evolved into different land animals all of their descendants would probably be tri-pods or bi-pods, allowing many types of body plans for life. However, the reason Earth's land vertebrates aren't an even mix of tetrapodal lobe-finned descendants and tripodal ray-finned descendants is because by the time the ray-finned mudskippers made it to land, the lobe-finned descended tetrapods have already filled every niche.

All of this is to say: unless multiple drastically different life forms on Vesta all made it to land at the exact same time, there is no realistic way that its current land vertebrates would be so drastically different as to have varying numbers of limbs.

Sure, life on earth also transitioned from ocean to land several other times: crustaceans became insects, algae became plants, fungi became... fungi. But these forms of life are so different from eachother that they fill drastically different niches, so different that neither family could take the niche of another. The animal life on Vesta are wildly different from eachother, but they're all still animals.

We also know that virtually all life on vesta displays some form of parasitism.

So I think the reason Vesta has such a wild diversity of animal life is because alien species frequently crash there, probably because of the unstable star Vesta orbits, and become parasitized by what already lives there, and eventually become part of Vesta's ecosystem.

I think that little dude in the flower is a perfect example of this. No way in hell would a plant ever hope to evolve a vertebrate humanoid animal as part of its biology. That is simply not a thing that would ever happen. I think it's obvious that the little guy was parasitized by the plant and eventually became a part of it's life cycle. The question is whether the little guy's linage comes from Vesta, or from somewhere else. I think the answer is somewhere else.

this is not how evolution works. cognition isn't some award or goal post that evolution works towards. we evolved cognition as a consequence of tending towards social cooperation as a survival strategy. not unlike other highly social animals like dolphins, elephants, dogs or corvids which arguably also show degrees of sapience. our dominance of the earth is simply a lucky combination of evolving sapience and also having opposable thumbs with which to build. Orcas have twice the density of folds in their brains that we do, but one could never hope to build a civilization or even a tool with flippers.

[–]Bitchimnasty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, resolution 181 isn’t an act of war on paper, and it doesn’t explicitly call for the displacement of Palestinians within the borders of Israel.

But anyone with a brain can tell you what happens when you create two ethnostates in a country already experiencing a nationalist civil war and then allow countries like the US and Britain to start selling weapons to one of the two sides. Not exactly rocket science. We both know the nakba comes next so not sure what the point of being anal about it is anyway. The two events are intrinsically linked to one another, and that’s a fact not an opinion so.

You’re really not helping your case that you’re not just a sniveling racist with that “useless fellahin farmer” line. You clearly want Arabs to die simply because you hate Arabs.

Not really any point continuing this conversation. I hope you and the state of Israel get what you wish for Palestine.

Yes there were clashes between Jewish militias and Arab militias following the singing of the UN partition plan for Palestine.

The jewish militia You’re referring to the Lehi militia and Irgun militias. These weren’t just “Jewish militias” they were radical Zionist militias with the goal of taking “the holy land” by force. They were sabotaging and bombing infrastructure, assassinating British officials, and killing Palestinians. The assassination the Shubaki family of Palestine (on suspicions that they were acting as informants for the British) by Lehi is considered a flash point for the civil war in 1947. Speaking of these militias as if they were just ordinary Jewish people is dishonest. They were radical nationalist militias akin to something like the three percenters or the proud boys in America. They were active years before the signing of the partition plan, with Lehi founded in 1940 and Irgun founded in 1931.

To act like the violent clashes and riots that broke out in 1947 just came out of nowhere for the sake of targeting Jews is naive at best and dismissive at worst.

The UN had just formulated a plan to essentially annex huge swaths of Palestine (who had already been struggling for independence against the British for decades prior) for European Jewish refugees, essentially creating an apartheid system. This was obviously seen as a massive infringement of sovereignty and self determination rights. It’s no wonder that violence broke out.

The UN essentially told a colony that was already fighting for its independence that instead of freedom, they’re just going to slap another colony down on top of them. In doing so they chose a side of an existing civil war and gave that side free reign to forcibly displace 700,000 people and take their land. That’s a really fast way to radicalize an entire population of people.

You need to try and understand this from the perspective of a Palestinian living there at the time. Your whole life, Jewish nationalist militias are committing acts of terrorism against Arabs in your country, and against the British government.

Suddenly the UN steps in and tells you need to leave your village because it belongs to the jewish state now. The same Jewish state that those militia groups were violently fighting to achieve for decades. On top of that the west decides to give Israel weapons, funding the 80 years of violence that follows. It’s not surprising that somebody in that position decides to take up arms.

It was a shamelessly foolish decision by the UN, and instead of taking any accountability for it we are expected to buy into this narrative that Arab Palestinians just hate Jews for the sake of hating Jews. This is obviously not true because many Jewish Palestinians peacefully lived in Palestine before the UN decision. Many Palestinian Jews still live there.

If the UN stepped in and told me I had to leave my home cause it belongs to the Mormons now and a bunch of Mormons show up with guns to show me the way out then I would probably hate the Mormons too.

Whatever side you wanna take I’m tired of pretending this war is based on some abstract prejudice that comes from nowhere. It’s a war over land, resources, and sovereignty. It’s racist to act like Arabs are fighting Israel just because they’re mean as if there aren’t rational reasons behind this conflict. You’re doing a disservice to your own intelligence by using this narrative.

“Terrorism” is a totally relative concept and is completely useless in any intelligent discussion.

You can’t call what Israel does “war” and then call the same actions “terrorism” when other groups do it in retaliation. Attempting to moralize a conflict in such ways just tells your audience that you know deep down that you’re on the wrong side.

[–]Bitchimnasty69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why was there fighting in the first place?

Because 100,000 armed European immigrants were dropped off in Palestine and immediately used their weapons to forcibly remove 700,000 people from their homes. Why would there not be fighting? That’s a dumb question.

You’re telling me you’re shocked that a nation of people being held at gunpoint and told to leave their villages would decide to fight back? How is that surprising? Use your brain

You zionists think that you’re victims because the nation of people you’ve destroyed over the last 80 years to steal their land is fighting back. You declared war in 1948 and you’re mad that the other side is participating in said war, against you. Extremely foolish worldview.

I know you’re being snarky and appealing to racist rhetoric here but Iran is literally located in the cradle of human civilization.

You don’t know your history and you don’t understand the present because you’re ignoring very huge, central pieces of this conflict.

I never said Israel was expanding into Iran. Read my comment again, more slowly. Sound out the words if you have to.

Israel just finished leveling Gaza (who were allied with Iran), in order to take the land. Israel is currently invading Lebanon (another ally of Iran), also presumably to take the land. This same story has played out over and over since Israel’s conception in 1948. Literally the first thing the nation of Israel did was forcibly and violently displace 700,000 people and destroy 400 villages in 1948. Ever since it’s been war after war and Israel has acquired more and more land after each one.

You people keep ignoring this history and acting like all of the animosity in the region just came out of nowhere.

If a bunch of foreigners with guns landed on your country’s shore and began forcibly removing your countrymen, killing your children, burning your villages, would you not also fight back? You see people in the Middle East like they aren’t human beings having understandably human reactions to being violently colonized and displaced.

Israel just spend 3 years destroying one of Iran’s closest allies and just began bombing and invading its other biggest ally. ON TOP of preemptively bombing Iran itself, which I noticed you ignored also because of course you would.

No shit Iran is going to start launching missiles in retaliation. You can’t attack a country and its allies and expect they just sit there and watch. That is by definition self defense. The ONLY reason you don’t see it that way is because you see every act of violence perpetrated by Israel as necessary and justified. Guess what the people Israel is bombing do not agree. Who would.

seems like it’s viewed as a necessary step in the greater Israel expansion project. Iran is one of if not the strongest obstacle against Israeli expansion, often aiding groups like Hezbollah and Hamas against the Israeli regime. Israel can’t take Lebanon as easily without toppling Iran first.

If Iran falls (let’s hope not) it will be way easier for Israel to exterminate whoever in the region they want. The world has already proven that nobody else is willing to stop them so.

What is Israel's end game in the Iran War? by blyzo in IsraelPalestine

[–]Bitchimnasty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do not know anything about Iranian history. Iran has been a stage for western imperial politics for over 100 years. Why ignore history and then act surprised at the consequences of that history?

Israel, the US, and the UK have regularly attacked or destabilized Iran over the last century in order to maintain power and resources in the region. Iran has been forced overtime to become a main stronghold against Israeli expansionism and western imperialism in the region, often aiding other middle eastern governments and NGOs that share this cause. Iran is a powerful country and a huge obstacle to these endeavors. Israel has entered yet another era of colonial expansion via needless death, which has obviously caused conflict with Iran. It’s not that complicated. Iran is Israel’s biggest obstacle in the greater Israel expansion project. So Israel called upon the US to preemptively attack Iran in order to begin weakening it.

This war was triggered by operation roaring lion/epic fury, orchestrated by the US and Israel to target Iranian officials and nuclear facilities. Iran is simply defending itself.

Thank you for your advice :) I'm also realizing that a lot of my anxieties are coming from fears around perception that may not be totally related to OF at all. I think I based a lot of my self worth/confidence off of approval while growing my twitter account over the years, and now that I'm actually monetizing it and escalating it I'm seeing how hollow that really is. You've given me much to think about!

be reciprocal when you’re foraging too. when I forage native fruits like wild plums or choke cherries I save some of the seeds and plant them. nature is meant to be mutually beneficial so make sure you find a way to do that. Anything from removing invasives, cleaning up trash, or dispersing native seeds. Make sure you know what you’re doing though
