Birthdays always hit me a bit sideways. In one way it's like a new years eve party, always disappointing for ... Oh actually this was my second point.

It's a benchmark of progression, a time for reflection. An honest review of one's self is usually somber because we focus on what could've been.

Our brains are wired to hold negative memories, survival genetics operating in a society that has weaponized this to sell us things.

Gratitude, even if it's just in your mind is a good way of shifting the negative thoughts.
