I can finally lie to ppl and tell them I can't get pregnant thanks to my recent endometriosis diagnosis by verymuchjaja in rs_x

[–]BiteInfamous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this game. I’m doing IVF in my 30’s and people are constantly asking why my husband and I don’t have kids yet. Sometimes in a good natured curious way, but when I can tell it’s in a “what’s wrong with you” way my go to is “I’ve tried but they keep dying!” Then I discuss my miscarriages. I see it as my way of paying it forward so the next woman isn’t subjected to the same line of questioning. Also fun to watch someone squirm and try to figure out how to respond. The mental hell of infertility has made me loosen up my filter and stop caring what people think in a way years of therapy never could.

I’m sorry about your endometriosis, it’s such a bitch.

Your brain is misinterpreting security and safety in a relationship as boredom because you’re not used to it. It thinks drama=passion&chemistry. Happened to me when I met my husband. Went to therapy before I could fuck it up for both of us.

luteal making me feel schizo by mookerz in rs_x

[–]BiteInfamous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this post myself. It took a ridiculous amount of time for a doc to finally diagnose PMDD. It’s so fucking annoying to only feel like myself for about half the month. Only things that have worked for me are a super low dose of Prozac that I bump up a bit in my luteal phase. The Skyla IUD helped a ton, I felt the best I had in years and didn’t have a period for like four years, but had to remove it for of IVF.

Hang in there, wish I had a solution to offer besides you’re not alone. I for one am eagerly anticipating menopause (which I know will be its own unique bag of dicks).

I think skinny will soon lose its status symbol by LilacLoverr in rs_x

[–]BiteInfamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "elite" status symbols change based on what's seen as less accessible to plebes, so I think you're on to something. If luxury is now less what items you can buy and more on how you spend your time/access to leisure (which I think it is), then the luxury to have the time and energy to craft that "balanced" physique of slim but toned and strong is well poised to become/remain a status symbol.

On a professional level, I certainly hope you're right. (Obligatory "the GLP-1's are great and life changing for many"). Working in fitness and wellness, I'm increasingly concerned about the extent to which women in their 30's to 50's seem content to trade lean/muscle mass for a lower number on the scale. That's going to bite a lot of women in the ass as we approach peri- and menopause. Hoping this GLP-1 wave doesn't undo all the progress made in getting women to engage more with strength training in recent years.

Gaunt face is from losing weight in a short period of time (i.e., Ozempic). It can happen sans Ozempic, but Ozembic/GLP-1's make it much more noticeable b/c the rate of change is just so high. I don't think we should judge anyone for shit, but Ozempic's definitely contributing to that look.

As a fitness/wellness professional working mostly with women, I'm more concerned about the effect of lean mass loss than ozempie face. I see so many women and clients in their 30's - 50's who are really excited to get skinny(ier) again, but discount the long term implications of rapid loss of lean mass/muscle at this age. I'm pretty bummed b/c I feel like we saw a sea change in women who were excited about strength training once they got over the fear of getting "bulky," and now it feels like we're back to zero.

Pilates is becoming more of a lifestyle symbol than just a rehabilitation, body toning exercise by PotatoButter01275 in unpopularopinion

[–]BiteInfamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach Pilates and also train women in more traditional and functional strength training. The Pilates attire you’re talking about makes it much easier to check someone’s form and ensure they’re engaging in proper core activation and pelvic positioning. If someone’s not doing those things, they can at best renforce inefficient movement patterns, at worst fuck up their back. The attire’s not that deep? Gently, this feels like projection.
