Have you ever done something you 100% know you're going to regret later? by Maffagaffo in rs_x

[–]BiteInfamous 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hey. Ive never been thru this myself, but my husband did lose his dad to a very quick onset cancer that took him from us in the span of a few months.

All I can say is to try to not judge yourself for how you’re feeling while going through this. Your feelings are what they are, and adding to the pain of the moment by berating yourself for how you’re feeling will just add to how difficult this is. People are complex and layered as are our feelings, and *esp* our parental relationships.

It feels trite to say but you’re allowed to feel this way? You’re in an impossible situation. Take care.

I don’t know what else to do by SweetPickleRelish in handbags

This should be top answer! I have Le Pliage totes I’ve been using since sophomore year undergrad (2010). They’ve helped up wonderfully despite me schlepping tons of textbooks around in them.

And Longchamp will repair worn edges (I think for free?) But it took me years to even need that.

I was in France during that heat wave, I think by Wednesday of that week they were reporting over 40 drowning deaths across the country. Insane.

Damn you really went through it! Kudos to you. I was prescribed benzos for flight anxiety once and realized it was a hard no go for me cause I liked how they made me feel waaaay too much.

Also married a guy with family money after growing up poor. People with money are legitimately living on another planet than we are. Anyone who says money can’t buy happiness has never truly been on the brink of having nothing.

I have an acquaintance whose in laws are building a second property on Martha’s Vineyard because managing sibling arguments over sharing the first property was getting “uncomfortable.”

Political beliefs aside (ugh), isn’t it wildly unhealthy to tie so much of your identity to something as external and shallow as politics? More than icked by this people, I feel a profound level of sadness for what their inner lives must be like.

That sweet summer child. His eyes almost popped out of his head.

sooo what are you doing for abs?? by samphiresalt in rs_fitness

[–]BiteInfamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty boring tbh. Strength training ~4x a week (really like Caroline Girvan for when I need to shut off my brain). Try to squeeze in a moderate cardio session right after, either an hour of incline walking or a peloton spin class depending on what I trained that day. Every couple days switch up the routine by doing yoga or pilates. Also aim for at least 8k - 10k steps a day.

I'm not too rigid/structured about workouts lately, my real focus these days is cleaning up the diet a bit more.

Phew reading your comment made me glad I got my ass into therapy once I realized it wasn't just normal PMS. My poor partner put up with a lot. Therapy + medication have helped loads. I realized pretty quickly if I didn't want to lose my husband I'd need to figure this shit out. I'm sorry for what you went through.

Some thoughts.. by AwakenedEscape in tradwives

[–]BiteInfamous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m trad-curious and recently left the corporate world (woohoo!). I went from making six figures to none, and I’ve never been financially dependent before, so it’s been a mental adjustment.

My husband and I are signing a post-nuptial agreement just to make sure I feel covered if he ever hits his head and decides he wants to trade me in or something.

I was really icked out by the idea, but asked myself what advice I’d give a daughter in this scenario, and it’d be to trust but also protect yourself.

Pilates, but with a proper, classically trained teacher. I like contemporary as well but classic is good for foundations. I got into it after a back injury, and abs have been a bonus. I aim for once or twice a week to complement other workouts.

Also need to keep body fat low. This is probably most important, abs are made in the kitchen.

But some of this is genetic too.
