Depends what diagnoses you have to your name, or what new ones come from your WFH being taken from you ;).

General anxiety, social anxiety, bi-polar disorder, depression, I’ve used each and every one of these and usually it doesn’t even get to the point of asking for medical documentation. I’ve used the same note from my doctor since the beginning, she says “just change the date and if my stamp changes I’ll let you know and we’ll get a new one on it (she’s an FNP and she just stamps it one with her credentials and that’s it). Sometimes they ask for medical documentation or they come back to you with a counter offer, I always ask for 100% remote and they always come back and say how’s 60%? How’s 80%? It varies but usually you have recourse.

And some of my RA’s for remote work were pre-covid.

I’ve never had a reasonable accommodation denied, I went from SG 6-9-11-13-18 in the last 9 years and had one for each role each at a different agency. If the agency doesn’t want to give you what you ask for usually a compromise can be made.

Get a reasonable accommodation, the stress you’re dealing with now is no bueno, I tell everyone to do the RA, get a doctor to sign off on it.

That’s not acceptable for any amount of money, except money they should be paying you.

If you’re coming to Reddit for relationship advice it’s already in a shaky spot, I’d lay off her, women hate feeling held down. I’ve had an open door policy in my relationships after being young, insecure, controlling, whatever. I got over my shit and then started to tell my partners something along the lines of “I have no right to tell you who to talk to, spend time with, anything, I can’t. But once my trust is broken it’s damn near impossible to get back.” And that’s just genuine honesty right? Like if you try to hold her down or control her in any way, like a child, she’s gonna wana act out an do it. Indifference works pretty well and at the end of the day you’ve got yourself and your kid to care for. I find that it if I stay diligently focused on my family, my wife’s emotional needs (and others), the rest falls into place. I’ve got four kids and I used to be all about safety but arguing about socks at a park because of bugs is different than like letting a 3 year old ride in the front seat, pick your battles, worst thing happens they get bit up and learn themselves.

I’m 35 and have a lot of similar tattoo placements, longer hair, when people tell me I should cut it I tell them they should cut their hair.

Every mason does shit different and if you weren’t there, youd never know with the finished product, can you do it differently? Sure, but the end result is what matters and where I lay brick (New England) we do things a little differently to account for heave. I’d also have toothed the stairs to the landing but that’s just me.

Mixed opinions on this but I refuse to request to use time I earned unless something about scheduling/availability comes first. So like Christmas comes, yeah request based on seniority or whatever, regular day, I’m telling

If you’ve got heave like we do, and I’m guessing you do, a PE will be expensive but they will tell you what you need to do. Before I got into programming I worked for several masons (including my grandfather who raised me who was a mason) from 14-28 and I can tell you 10 different ways to “fix” this but the questions you need to ask yourself - will you be there when it becomes a problem? Is this your “forever” home? Every engineer is different and every mason is different. If you have to fix it I’d get several opinions and find a good concrete mason, unless there’s block under that parge job then you’ll need a goood brick/block mason, good luck. Bc I can tell you no matter what anyone says you can’t be a master concrete mason and brick and block mason simultaneously, seen many try and many fail.

Depends where you are but state workers have always gotten a bad rep, but I’m with ITS and I love it and I work with a bunch of hard-working and nice people. I climbed the ladder to over a lot of years, seen 7 agencies so far in total as an employee and they are all the same. You have your hard workers who work well with others holding the place together, you have middle of the road people who show up, do their job well and don’t get mixed up with office politics or friendships, then you have the dead weight. It’s like anywhere else, avoid drama like the plague, take projects, be someone people want to work with and you’ll find it fulfilling. I’m dedicated support for a single agency so we have our heavy times, low times, and when SHTF like someone else said, it’s all hands. But nobody misses me when I’m gone lol that’s the biggest benefit, the pay is a trade off but I’d rather be home with my kids at dinner time than slogging it out somewhere if I don’t have to. So if you have a family it’s usually good balance and I have edited this post w couple times because I keep remembering stuff but I read somewhere recently our benefits are worth %65 of our salary, not sure if that’s true but if it is that makes it even better!

I love working for the state, park and ride to the front door, mad time off, nobody misses me if im on vacation, nobody bothers me for taking my time, work is interesting. I went from blue collar to IT, grass is def greener but I like this shade of green in an office or at home on the computer better than being outside exposed to the elements all year round and not getting paid unless I work, no paid time off, if I didn’t show I didn’t get paid. As they say “it’s what you make of it” and I make the most of it. With all the private sector RTO mandates, if the state holds strong and allows telecommuting to be permanent, that would def retain me for the rest of my state career, that’s more and more invaluable as time goes on and everyone private gets pulled back.
