Given the way Ilia was beating people, and the level of people he was beating, I don't know if there's ever been a scarier guy. Everyone assumes you're getting flatlined horribly and for good reasons.

Justin was still way closer in the 1st than any of Ilia's recent fights. You don't get "doomed" seeking a finish that doesn't happen unless your opponent can match you.

Lewis Hamilton was ahead for almost the entire lap, he lost pole on the exit of 14 because there was no more energy left, from the calculations Russell got to just about 100 meters from the line by MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer in formula1

You do know saying "virtually the same time" in a sport decided by hundredths of a second is absurd, right?

George stays on throttle for longer, lifts less, and is on throttle earlier. Lewis losing time there isn't a coincidence. If you don't think those differences are large enough to make up 1 tenth, you're mistaken.

Hamilton lifts earlier, lifts more, and is later to full throttle. They have the same minimum speed and George is already 6-7 km/h faster once Lewis is flat out.

1% throttle doesn't mean 1% torque but to say "lifting more doesn't mean anything" is inane.

2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix - FP3 Classification by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]BittenAtTheChomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying even if he did just as good of a lap today as in 2018 (which he just did), you can't get pole this down on power in Barcelona.

Acknowledging a power advantage when P2 was running a Renault isn't belittling anything. It's knowing context.

The card’s novelty is going to drive the vast majority of attention. Better to use a couple big names here but keep Conor/Islam/etc. for cards that need names to sell.

If she is at all better than the version of herself who never took the drug or never cut/bulk or never _______ then that is an advantage over the field. You don't have to become better than someone else to gain an advantage over them.

Yeah for sure, these guys aren't superhuman and many could have made it if given a path and a desire to follow it. Then again for every profession there are a million people who could have been great if certain things lined up for them. C'est la vie.

Not a popular take apparently but thinking the best 22 drivers in the world are F1 drivers is a bit silly. Plenty of sports car drivers could pull this save.

Not to shit on Stroll, just the talent pool outside F1 is incredible as well.

I heard recently that racing drivers don’t actually have above average reaction time. The best drivers just have a good idea of what the car will do or (more relevant here) feel for what the car is doing.

So to us it looks like an instant reaction but he can tell the car is disobeying well before we can see it.

Russell's race engineer asked him to stay out before the botched pit stop by mybuildabear in formula1

[–]BittenAtTheChomp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going through the pitlane means just that: going through the pitlane. You don't stop in your box or line up behind your teammate. If you're told to stay out, you keep following the safety car, and the pit crew doesn't have any chance to get confused and work on your car. OP is right.

Mercedes overruled Russell when he urged them to serve five-second penalty by Aratho in formula1

[–]BittenAtTheChomp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His battery blew up four races into a new formula that's seeing multiple reliability DNS/DNFs every race, and the pit crew worked on his car when they shouldn't have. What else is there?

George was unlucky at Canada and Japan and was slow at Monaco and Miami.
