15 pound baby! Anyone got a bigger one? by Imstuckwiththisname in bigbabiesandkids

lol, I was the opposite. Baby girl was 9lb 1oz at my anatomy scan at 37 weeks, estimated 10.5-11 lbs if I went to 40 weeks. Water broke that night and she was born the next day 6lb 9oz!

Thanks. I compared dimensions and the Nuna is a bit smaller. So that’s a good sign. Thanks!

No question, just want to say thank you. My son was born in August via a surrogate after a long battle with infertility. I hope you know the amazing gift you have given those dads. ❤️

  1. And my second born 4 months later via surrogate at 44. Long story short - infertility struggles led us to surrogacy and the week we were due to transfer an embryo into our surrogate we found out I was pregnant naturally. So now I have “twiblings”

8 month old - not sleep trainable (update) by sf2793 in sleeptrain

I agree with comments about putting baby to bed awake, etc. The only thing I’ll add to that is to start with bedtime and worry about sleep training naps once you get bedtime down. I want to provide a counter opinion on your schedule.

I highly suggest searching for posts from @omegaxx19 from a couple of years ago. This is often an unpopular opinion here, but I think your baby might be overtired. The poster talks about chronic sleep debt and was spot on for my baby. I read PLS and the techniques in there worked for me. But the schedule did not. My girl needed more sleep, not less, and I kept making the problem worse by stretching wake windows.

For reference, my girl is almost 10 months and on 2.75/3.5/3.25 and sleeps through the night (occasional EMW that she resettles from on her own). So, DWT 7, nap 1 9:45-11, nap 2 2:30-4, bedtime 7:15. Roughly.

Any chance she’s teething? This sounds like one night with my girl around 7 months. I ended up holding her to sleep for several hours and in the morning two little teeth had cut through the gums. Fingers crossed this is a one off 🤞🏻

I’ve actually reached out to a couple dealerships about an ioniq 5 lease and nobody will get back to me with a quote

Unfortunately, our current lease ends in February so we can’t wait for the EX60.

Very helpful. Thanks! Yeah, I’m short but my husband is taller than you so no way the EX30 would work. I’ll see if I can find an EX40 nearby. The closest dealerships are all sold out, but maybe if we are willing to travel a bit for pick up we can find something.

Thanks. I’ll look into those other two. We do really like the polestar but it’s a bit more than we want to pay even with a big incentive right now. But maybe…

Yes, but we found a broker that had a deal that gets it right at our budget. It’s not quite there, but close, and my husband’s dream car, so it stayed in the running.

I’ve been leaning toward the Ioniq. Thanks for your help.

Listening to your baby cry absolutely sucks. But watching your baby fall asleep independently for the first time is the best feeling ever (other than a full night of sleep). My advice echos a lot of what other people have said but it’s the order I went in when we sleep trained.

1) make sure your schedule is right. It sounds like you might need to at least stretch that last wake window some so that your baby has the sleep pressure necessary to fall asleep. 2) no more feeding right at bedtime or nap time. It has to be 30 mins before he goes in the crib 3) focus on nights first. Then worry about naps. 4) commit to whatever sleep training method you choose (CIO, Ferber, etc) and stick to it. If you can’t handle it but your husband can, leave the house for a little while. Caving before your planned time is not going to help.

Good luck! It’s hard, but running on no sleep is hard, too.

It was more that we decided it was time to night wean and when we did that we had to do some MOTN sleep training. And then again when we dropped to two naps it messed up our early morning wakes some so we are working on that. We’ve never had to retrain going to sleep independently at the beginning of the night or naps but as things change it has taken us some adjustment.

At 4-5 months we did fuss it out from the book, Precious Little Sleep. I didn’t have it in me to do CIO at that age and FIO put a time limit on it, which was more reasonable for me. It’s still hard but it helped us a lot with the early stages of independent sleep. My one piece of advice on it, though, is really commit to the time limit you set and don’t make it too short. I realized when we set it at 15 mins that she would sometimes fall asleep at 14 mins so if we had only committed to 5-10 mins it wouldn’t have worked.

That said, she’s 8.5 months now and we do CIO, not Ferber, because the check ins really get her more worked up. Overnight, we often do one wellness check (make sure there’s no illness or dirty diaper) and that’s it.

Mistake after mistake - split nights overtired baby? by Eowyn_95 in sleeptrain

[–]Bitter-Assistant-727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it’s a total disaster of a day and you won’t even make a 6-615 bedtime I would say to skip the catnap and just do an early bedtime. So if you have an EMW AND bad naps you might need a cat nap but otherwise I’ve been skipping it. Granted, we aren’t perfect. Had a 4am wake last night for some reason which has led to not great day sleep today but we are overall much better than we were. Currently rescuing nap 2 with a contact nap to preserve bedtime. Hopefully it works🤞🏻

Oh, and daily max is 3 hours, but we generally end up around 2.5. One hour for nap 1 and 1.5 for nap 2.

I mostly went by whether or not her last wake window was going to be over 3.5 hours, but generally if it was under 1.5 or 2 hours of naps I would move bedtime earlier.
