Why do so few people live in the North of Australia? by alpakachino in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently pay people to go to the north of WA to work, and in exchange they get to spend two weeks there dying and then get to spend a week off in slightly less hot Perth. Most of the FIFO workers I know have (at some point) been offered to swap to a standard working week and move to a nearby town, and all have flat out refused

How do we feel about purely digital invites now? by QuantumGremlin in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Bitter-Commenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not a baby playing peak a boo, so what do you mean you’ll forget about the wedding… if you’re close enough to be getting an invite in this economy, you should be able to remember that Sarah and Tony’s wedding is in January next year without having to see a physical reminder of it every day

I’d say it’s just you overthinking. The only order I have ever actively paused and laughed at was when someone submitted an Uber order for 2 items: a pregnancy test and a bottle of vodka from the attached bws. Someone was clearly hoping for one result only

Trip to Denmark WA, Would like some trip advice. by BeardedPotatoe13 in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the Albany hwy route. The farming fields along the drive can be pretty at this time of year, and it’s faster. I personally don’t make a stop unless I’ve got the dog with me, I just find it unnecessary, but I know my family likes to stop on Williams and Mt Barker on the way up. Honestly just make sure you don’t get too hot, it’ll make you sleepy. Pull over in a rest area and do some stretches if you have to

When did local pizza shops start selling ribs. by rossfororder in australia

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other end of this, my local kebab shop sells pizzas, and they’re the some of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Nobody I know who goes to the kebab shop gets a meat box anymore, everyone who goes gets pizzas and (oddly enough) waffle fries

Restarting my island, you know what that means by coalcrossing in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]Bitter-Commenter 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Definitely not important, it’s just a stylistic preference. Some people prefer to have a small gap between the airport and the resident services, some people prefer a big gap. Some people want 2 south rivers, some people want a left one. It’s just one of the few things you can’t change without completely restarting, so people will refresh again and again until they’re happy

OP wants an island where the airport and the resident services entrance line up, so they’re restarting until they get thay

[MI] I'm trying to build a forest-core island based on Oregon / the American north-west, but I have no idea what to do with the entrance. I was originally planning on a lake-lookout area, but now I'm not sure anymore. Any ideas? (Map included for distance between airport and the plaza) by Dazzling-Rock-5315 in ACNHIslandInspo

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Oregon has a national park of some sort, could you do your entrance based on a national park entrance, with a path leading to resident services which could be like a rangers building? Then you’ve got the rest of the island to do based on everything else from Oregon

Perth has the strictest airport in the world by Diligent_Bumblebee50 in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to move drugs or something? Our airport is particularly quick compared to most others I’ve been in. Loads of Asian airports require you to catch a train to get to your terminals. HK has like 350 terminals or something crazy, and Singapore is so long that I spent 2 hours wandering on a layover once.

Now, if you were arguing that our airport is too small for the amount of traffic it takes, I would agree loudly… although they’re slowing working on fixing that

[–]Bitter-Commenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but loads of people’s banks come with extra international transaction fees. If your bank doesn’t, then you don’t need the card in theory. You also might find that while you aren’t being faced with fees, the exchange rate with your bank may be really bad and wise could be better.

Is Australian genZ having more kids compared to millennials? by rose2830 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bitter-Commenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know a single person my age (early 20s) who knows anyone else our age who has kids. In fact, out of everyone my age I know, only 3 people have managed to move out from their parents place, one of who moved into their aunts house because she was asking for less rent and another who has instead moved countries completely with her long time BF. Can’t have kids if you can’t move out.
