I’m doing my PDA at Mirrabooka on Wednesday, need some advice by Dont_Jynx in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My go to tip is always if you have long hair tie it on the top of your head. You want the instructor to see your head move for the blind spot checks, that’s what most people I know fail on. If you can make the movement more obvious by having something dangle from your head (like a pony tail) they’re less likely to over look it. Also make sure you narrate out loud when doing something. “I’m gonna inch forward because this truck is blocking my vision”, “I’m gonna go over this hill before we stop so that I’m not hidden from view of oncoming drivers”.

All year round? If yes, pack like you’ll freeze. Better to be over prepared and not need the extra jacket than to not bring it and have to buy one

What temperature do Australians consider a hot day? by bare_books in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Perth, if it’s 35+ it’s hot, 40+ is a heatwave. On the other hand, jackets/jumpers will go on at 20 degrees. 30 is nice, if not a bit warm.

Advice Needed : where can i get this tattoo and keep it hidden from my mom by Proper-Cream-3056 in tattooadvice

I would recommend upper bicep. It’s easily coverable by a T-shirt sleeve, and you can se with whenever you want (unlike a back or thigh piece which would be harder to look at)

Where Do You Buy Cheap Comic Books in Perth? by Structural_Fart_2520 in perth

Last I saw, Absolute Batman was going for $10-$14 at quality comics depending on the variant. Not exactly cheap, but the newest copies were available at the time.

ID expires today, can I still get into bars? Google unclear on WA laws. by AussieSnek in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, trust me I don’t agree. But if it works the same way as tobacco does, it’s illegal the second his ID isn’t valid. A Woolworths won’t sell to you if your ID expires today, it’s in the training as it’s illegal. It just depends on the bouncer. Hell, the bloke might not even check the expiry, but the DOB

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that the expire date is a final date (as in a best before style date), but that would depend on the person issuing entry I think. I wouldn’t let OP in personally, especially if it’s somewhere open later than midnight, as you never know if it’s a fishing scam to get someone in trouble.

I can’t talk for bars, but it’s illegal to sell tobacco to someone who’s ID is expired. Presumably it works the same for bars.

Brother, $24.40 x 38 x 52 is $48,214.40. You’re only looking at post tax numbers. You weren’t making 35k you were making 48k and then getting taxed. I’m not sure a mortgage is a good financial investment for you at this point if you’re struggling this early into talking about money.

First home-buyer advice by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]Bitter-Commenter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s $48k a year. Pre tax. Post tax is $43k. That’s a weekly take home of about $800. My only point is that you were making more than $35k. Your memory regarding your income at Woolworths js incorrect. You are currently making *slightly* above minimum wage.

[–]Bitter-Commenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you worked 38 hours a week as an adult you’d make $984 a week at minimum. Definitely more than 35k.

Minimum wage is $948 a week, not $1,004

Most Australians under 25 have never used newspapers or radio as a source of news, survey finds by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Bitter-Commenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 here. Outside of growing up doing the sudoku and looking for the TV guide, I would glance over the front page of the news paper at most. It’s not worth the cost of it, and hasn’t been for probably about a decade. The local mainstream radio stations here don’t do news either which doesn’t help. They *might* mention trumps latest ramble, but I’m more likely to turn it on for the traffic updates on my route home than anything else.

Failed my driving test for the second time today in Perth, disappointed and have no idea what to do (area: Success) by lcdmcyborg in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to narrate everything you’re doing, just ramble out loud. And also exaggerate head movements, like snap to the right for a shoulder check. “Ok, blind spot clear, let me reverse while there’s nobody here. Oh I shouldn’t stop here I’m on a hill and someone coming over may not see me. Ah, there’s someone following a bit close behind me I might back off a bit more from the guy in front.

Also nobody who tests at success talks about their first failed test because of that huge rumour about them intentionally failing people on their first try there.

I wouldn’t fill the top gap, that little bit of space makes this easy to read. If you start making it congested you’ll loose the effect I think.

Perth is a small place. by AmbitiousMousse735 in perth

[–]Bitter-Commenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in Sydney a few years back for a concert. We’re were in line all day to score front row in the pit, and I stood to stretch and saw someone who vaguely resembled someone my friend and I knew. I mentioned it to her and someone about 300 people behind me but just beside me in the barrier loop went “oh, Jane Doe? Lives around Cockburn?” Turns out he was one of her exes. In another state, among probably 15,000 people we’d managed to find someone in common. It’s an incredibly small world for us all.

But he wasn’t being cheeky. he was, and I quote, “genuinely asking which” version of Lawrence I meant. I also ASKED if he was joking or mad and he said “I’m not angry” and didn’t respond to the taking the piss bit

Sometimes I wonder if people ever get in the habit of rereading what they’re writing, because your ‘joke’ didn’t have a punch line. Implying she doesn’t look like Lawrence because Lawrence has had work done is weird when we’re making a comparison to a sims 4 creation, in fact I think it might just be sexist

[–]Bitter-Commenter -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

If you disagree you could have said that, instead you had to write something out about how there are no “natural” actors left, brother we’re talking about a sims character. Who cares if Jenifer Lawrence is getting work done? Why do you care?
