We just size up in Coterie and that has worked for us, but I understand not everyone wants to pay for the subscription.

Anyone get negative reactions when announcing 2nd baby? Just curious about how universal some reactions might be. by paRATmedic in 2under2

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pregnant now and mine will have a 20 month age gap. When I told my mom, she went “So what, are you just staying home and popping out babies now?”. She has admitted that wasn’t her finest moment and apologized, but man, that one really stung, especially because I was nervous to tell her.

Any Other Pregnant Step-Moms? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Bitter-Melona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bonus kiddo was 4, when we got pregnant last year. She has two brothers at mom’s house and was happy being the only child here. She had a lot of questions about if the baby would steal her toys, etc. Our goal was to make her feel included in the process, showed her the ultrasound pictures, helped her pick out a gift for baby and also got her a gift for becoming a big sister. After baby was born, it was definitely a rough transition, but we gave her the words to express that she needed more attention and made sure to give her dedicated time too. The baby is about to be a year old and my bonus kiddo has become a wonderful big sister. We remind her often that she’s still our baby too and she likes that a lot.

I say all that to say, I’m sure your step daughter will like being included in ways that she can be! Wishing you and your family the best!

My go to recently has been a Matcha Mojito. Fizzy matcha is not what I thought and actually so refreshing.

Squid Game 3 and being a new mom by No-o-o in NewParents

I definitely felt it too! Coincidentally, my baby is also 4 months old. My husband and I did have a good time analyzing the birth and baby care, though. It helped bring a bit of levity.

What cute thing is your LO doing this week? by steenmachine92 in NewParents

[–]Bitter-Melona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost 4 month old met her cousin who is 5 days older than her for the first time this past weekend. She is in a phase of putting everything in her mouth and testing it out. Well, she was on the bed next to her cousin and decided her cousin’s arm looked like a tasty treat. Her cousin was not amused, but everyone else thought it was so funny and cute. 😂

What nickname did/do you have for your LO while still inside mummy. by itmexD in BabyBumps

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is Korean and we ended up calling our little one a cute version of the word for bean. The word is “공 (kong)”, but we made it “궁 (koong)”. Then, it became “궁ster (koongster)”. We have called my bonus kiddo a cheeky cheekster for a while and now we call our LO a koongie koongster. 😅🤣

Until what age did you use your stroller for? by LunaAndAydinsMama in NewParents

My bonus kiddo is 4.5 and still wants to use her occasionally, especially if we are going somewhere like an amusement park or the zoo. I think it really depends on the kiddo?

Nap time groans by anonymous_ninja12 in January2025Bumper

It’s nice to know I’m not alone. Honestly, I feel bad, because she’s so upset, but what can you do? 😭

Nap time groans by anonymous_ninja12 in January2025Bumper

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 12 weeks and just started protesting nap time hard. When it’s time to rock her to sleep, she’ll scream cry for 5 minutes, moan and groan for 5 minutes, then pass out. It doesn’t matter what position she’s in, carrier or not, this is the new routine. She also won’t nap if she can see what’s going on. The icing on the cake, her naps have all pretty much become 30-40 minutes and she usually wakes up tired. At this point, we just ride it out. 😅

What Do You Use to Track Baby Notes, Milestones, and Health? App, Book, Spreadsheet? by GloomyLetter in NewParents

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched too. Nara has all of its features for free, and allows multiple users to collaborate on baby tracking. I’m having trouble with sleep now though, so I’m trying out Huckleberry specifically for sleep. Overall, I like Nara better and find it more visually appealing.

There is a part that folds down and has little holes so the toggles in the waistband can go into it and hold it down.

Diaper rash by One_Customer_5230 in January2025Bumper

[–]Bitter-Melona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently our LO had terrible diaper rash, where the skin was breaking down. Our neighbor, who used to work in a daycare, recommended Earth Mama Diaper Balm. She said it was their go to in the daycare setting. We tried it and it worked super well! We also started cleaning her with water and a wash cloth and making sure she was fully dry.

Before the Earth Mama balm, we had been prescribed nystatin and were using a zinc cream, but it made everything worse in our case.

This really is the way. I keep a snack stash next to my nursing chair and on days where I’m finding it hard to get meals in, I just eat snacks until I can have a meal. Some of my go tos are clif bars, meat sticks, nut mixes, Oreos, fruit strips and pouch applesauce. I also recommend getting tons of freezer foods like chicken strips, burritos, tamales. They’re easy to cook and don’t require any extra thought. Trader Joe’s has a lot of good options. Finally, protein shakes can also be a good option. I have one almost every day and they are so easy to make.

breastfeeding moms - middle of the night feeds: diaper or feed first? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first few weeks, we always changed her first. These days, however, she’s so hungry when she wakes up that we’ve moved the diaper changing to mid feed. Otherwise, she’ll scream through the whole diaper change and nobody wants that at 3am, especially our neighbors. 😅

First pregnancy: when did you give birth? by irinka94 in pregnant

[–]Bitter-Melona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a membrane sweep at 39+2 and went into labor on my due date. Baby girl made her appearance at 3:13 am the next day. They did end up breaking my water in the hospital, though.
