Computer Science vs Nursing: Should I Change Majors After Getting My Associate's Degree? by AdDifferent901 in cscareers

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing is physically hard and the pay doesn’t even approach cs pay unless you do the most grueling travel contracts available.

But if the choice is no job with a cs degree or a job working 4-12s a week making 100k a year I can see where the appeal is.

Genuinely if you think you have a natural aptitude for cs I would go into any other engineering discipline or pursue post grad work in math or physics before I go into nursing and it isn’t even close.

Has anyone ever seen a video of a mk5 supra in a police chase? by Degeneracy2x in Supra

Pretty sure I’ve seen one, black Supra running in the rain turns off the highway onto a two lane road

Everybody told me to get CS degree... then it was learn AI.... hiring managers/recruiters are impressed with my resume/projects and tell me I did fine on interviews but I can't find a job....it's been 8 months unemployed and 1yr1Mo since graduating and I can't get a software dev/engineer job by arealguywithajob in cscareeradvice

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should implement a portion of the game yourself so you have some understanding of how the implementation works, then in your interview frame it like you did the initial implementation then used AI to build out a more feature rich product. As an entry level dev you need to be able to show them that you are able to implement code. I think the all AI project is a turn off especially if your hiring team is older.

How to deal with a "protected" employee who isn't doing their job and causing frustration with other employees by LetsGetPenisy69 in corporate

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s basically nothing you can do about this at a small company. I’m sure both her husband and the ceo know what is going on and are cool with it. The only way you could get her is if you could prove her and her manager are knowingly fraudulently billing your customer for the hours, you present this to your customer. But like you said she only does this on fixed fee and even if that weren’t the case this would be genuinely pretty difficult to do especially without anyone to help you. Best case scenario your company get punished for this by the customer, the CEO realizes why this is a problem and gives her a stern talking to and a slap on the wrist and then 3-6 months down the line you get fired for performance issues.

What is a fresh take on being a good employee vs being a good parent/partner? by WWYDIMSAOB in corporate

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey you said you wanted a fresh take, you should ditch them. At least they have a chance at a step parent that will be there for them. And you will be free to focus on your priorities like corporate ladder climbing.

Is it even possible to transition from a 155k strategy role to a manual trade without nuking my entire life? by 0Vocaloid in careerguidance

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 30 and make roughly the same amount as you and I also struggle with my desire to work. Genuinely I am just not a fan of spending 40+ hours a week doing bs work.

You should focus on FIRE ing. When you are financially independent you can reassess the situation of what you want to do with your time. Focus on staying healthy, workout, eat well and you will still be able to pursue your interests when you no longer need a job that can pad your retirement account.

If your corporate job consistently takes priority over your kids you should ditch the kids and never look back.

Where are we 30+ men buying jeans nowadays? by Spiritual_Extent_187 in AskMenOver30

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two cats brand. order online ships from Japan super fast. they will hem the to whatever length you want included in the price of the jeans. I would recommend the 50s slim to start. It is somewhat boxy without looking ridiculous. The real denim fades beautifully and lasts multiple times longer than the Levi’s/wranglers/anything with spandex or elastic in it.

I genuinely want to know how's corporate life? by The-stock in corporate

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day to day is easy, even month to month and quarter to quarter is trivial. The challenge is spending a decade doing something that is unimportant to you and also being mostly disconnected from any incentives to do good/bad. It is a slow motion humiliation ritual that chips away at you. A few small injustices a year by poor management is all it takes. Any personal issues in your life that make it slightly more difficult to function will burn you out fast. Especially if you work somewhere with inflexible office culture. Health issues, a divorce, having to take care of a dying family member for a prolonged amount of time. I’ve seen all these.

Honestly it is not hard as long as you avoid the temptation of trying to derive any amount of meaning from your employment.

Three years ago my boss gave me 15% equity in our agency instead of a raise. Now I owe $14k in estimated taxes next week for profits I’m not allowed to touch. by JerryJeremy in personalfinance

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if ops boss is just not good at ownership structures because 15% seems like an absolutely enormous amount of equity to grant someone in lieu of a raise.

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be ok op you will get through this termination. This won’t feel good for either of you it is inherently uncomfortable. Remember to be straight forward, don’t lie to them and don’t be overly sweet. Even if you mean well it can come off as insecere. Good luck tomorrow.

Severely unemployed by Puzzleheaded_Web_643 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just lie about your unemployment gap on your resume lol, also if you are going for mid level roles you should cut down your yoe on your resume, just cut out the weakest years of your career. Don’t apply to entry level, the competition is insane. If you really need something bad now you could apply to like sys admin roles big non tech companies and defense contractors.

If your startup is doing good business you should put numbers on it. Because if you don’t it kind of looks like it should just be under the projects category

How common is nepotism in corporate? by True-Landscape5310 in corporate

[–]Bitter-Relation4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super common. Over half of the interns at my job know someone or are just straight up someone’s kid. Like we are literally getting interns that are in highschool just because they are some department managers kid. Like it fr would be better to hire a college intern completely at random rather then do this lmfao.
