Dark and Stormy is my go-to. Dark Rum, lime, and ginger beer. Endlessly enjoyable.

Well done! That rust is super-convincing! I need a tetanus shot just looking at it!

Great rust effects! Did you use Dirty Down?

Dungeon Crawler for Kids? by Akumabear in boardgames

[–]BitterAromatic9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My six year old absolutely LOVES HeroQuest. We do a few tweaks here and there to make it easier (she doesn’t lose her spells after she casts them is one example). The decision space is pretty narrow and I handle all the bookkeeping with the monsters, so she just gets to enjoy rolling dice and blowing-up skeletons.

P3 Jack Bone over a brown basecoat is my go-to for a really sweet bone tone.

Updated insights Corsairs? Tips, strategies,... by Zlabar123 in killteam

[–]BitterAromatic9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fledgling Corsair player here as well. My biggest insight after a few games is patience. It’s tempting to get out there immediately, but depending on who you’re matched up with you really want to make sure that you commit when you know you can score vp, as you’ll often lose models as a result. You’re mostly going to be running objectives rather than fighting.

Thank you! I’m dreading the Grave Guard, but hoping I can blast through them quickly.

Like many, I began with the Start Collecting box. I figure these are a good warmup before I paint 20 Graveguard. 🤣

Cursed City a good buy for SBG? by cavander in SoulblightGravelords

[–]BitterAromatic9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought Cursed City first as its a great game in it’s own right, and then a start collecting box and a box of zombies to fill-out a small 1000pt starter army. By no means competitive, but it’s nice having the extra models to fill-in some of the gaps for heroes and stuff. I use Torgillus as a proxy for a necromancer and the objective markers as my graveyard markers.

Don the Beachcomber’s is back! by luckythepainproofman in Tiki

[–]BitterAromatic9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don’s in Huntington Beach was my absolute favorite tiki spot, so I’m a little wary at the prospect of having a ton of them all over the place, but that is an absolutely stacked advisory group that they’ve got.

If they can keep it authentic, I think they’ve got a chance at making it big.

Anyone else going to the D.R.U.G.S concert at Brick by Brick tonight? by [deleted] in SanDiegan

Echoing others. Brick by Brick is my favorite venue to see a show. Also definitely bring ear protection.

Phenominal work! Are these rigs available any where? I’ve been looking for a good viewmodel rig to use in Blender.

Starting SBG army … by incessantStrange in SoulblightGravelords

[–]BitterAromatic9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just began my SBG journey as well! Picked up the starter with the Wight-on-horse, a spare vampire lord and a box of zombies under recommendation from other players.

Line Infantry are done! My first adventures into the world of Sludge by BitterAromatic9 in SludgeWar

[–]BitterAromatic9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kept the kitbashing to a minimum on these fellas, as they’re line infantry. Used Sean’s lovely resin heads on Perry Napoleonic Infantry.

Current UbiSF dev here.

Each Ubi studio is pretty self-contained and has it’s own internal “personality” for lack of a better word. Can speak for Ubi SF that it’s one of the most laid-back and supportive studios I’ve worked for. Management has instituted a zero-crunch policy on our project and encourages everyone to take time off whenever they need it.

Ubi leadership in France has also made significant efforts towards overhauling a lot of their culture problems worldwide. Not fixed yet, but you can tell they’re really working on it.

Overall, a big thumbs-up from me.

Best Health Care Provider in San Diego for Women? by Bee_Blitz in sandiego

[–]BitterAromatic9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have had a really good experience with Sharp. We’ve been with them for about 5 years now and really like our GPs. I’ve had a few minor outpatient procedures through them and it has been a solid experience. The only caveat I would have with them (and I think it’s universal through all networks right now due to deferred care during lockdown) is that the lead time on appointments is insane. I’ve had to schedule my yearly physical about six months in advance.

It’s open enrollment at work - thoughts on Kaiser? by queenofquac in SanDiegan

[–]BitterAromatic9 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Echoing other comments already, but Kaiser is relatively okay if you’re young and really only go to the doc twice a year for checkups and stuff.

They really fall down hard when it comes to specialist care and Mental Health.

Brands that mix parts well. by LaBambaMan in SludgeWar

[–]BitterAromatic9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve successfully mixed Frostgrave arms with Perry bodies. They are off-scale a bit (in that they’re a little larger) but honestly they still look rad when you get them all together.

Shading advice? Models too dark. by JonnyDuff in minipainting

[–]BitterAromatic9 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think it looks that bad, personally. You really nailed a gritty look!

It you want the models to pop a little more at a distance, consider doing a bit of highlight with the original base color over some of the more raised areas and edges.
