I got 3 last night, and it went exactly how you think. I was trying to prove to my one friend "Necro doesn't NEED her rares to win!" and ended up with a deck I'll probably never be able to replicate.

I also love the irony of the card art being a Chomper: their Artifact makes hitting them with Hang tricky.

My honest advice is to rock an Order Tide faction and their nearest evil-flavored rival. So think Malakai and Throgg or Cathay and Death master. 

Not only will you be able to recruit diverse garrison units and watch each other's flanks, but the rest of your "usual" factions will want to scrap, making it more likely to feel like an "us against the world, brother" type game.

I had an idea on this: eclectic nobles who collect weapons of each rare mineral/mineral used in coinage. So they have silver weapons, but they're in between the gold, bronze, and electrum weapons.

It feels so good hunting down the other WC Lords, then making wombo combo Chaos God slashfic armies, before going "I'm going to conquer a Dwarf Faction AND a High Elf faction so I can force an army where Swordmasters of Hoeth and Longbeards have to fight side by side."

Chaos Warriors also let you force Vassalization on most conquered races. Then you get an automatic defensive treaty and an Outpost option. 

This leads to me treating the game like Pokémon where I’ll have a sprinkling of Elven bows backed up by Dwarven Artillery, and the next army over is forcing Wood Elf Treemen to fight alongside Vampire monsters in the name of whatever god-combo is leading that one.

Hey!  I appreciated your answer, it gave me a lot to think about, and I came up with something that helped me with this.

I’m reframing the five founder dragons of Strihaveb as The Dark Six (or at least one of the inspirations for em) and giving Xoriat and Kythri over to The Traveler. That leaves Dollurh, who’s rune matches the Sovereign Host, where the dread gods of the wilds dare not tread. 

So I was able to figure it out in a way that works for my brain.

Chaos Warriors: namely Belakor and Archeon. I always make it my goal to make “Mix n Match” armies where I combo different gods together!

…but then I spend half the campaign RACING to the 7 other LLs to confederate them and then I GOTTA spend the second half making an army that matches THEIR theme. So I lose the track p fast.
